High Mileage F50

I've been searching for a vip platform to work with and have kept my eye out on a F50. But the F50s in my price budget have miles between 90k-130k+. I was just wondering if there was anything major to look for when checking the service records. I noticed in the high mileage y33 thread, it seemed like the valve cover gaskets, 02 & knock sensors would go out. I plan to get a tune up, oil change, replace the belts and necessary flushes. Any help would be appreciated.

main things ive read are headlight ballast and exhaust leak on the drivers side exhaust manifold.

Where are you located at?

never heard of those exhaust leak, though i have one cause of being to low.. but ballasts? hmm

Ohhh ic, yeah never heard anything so far of hid balast or the crack on the exhaust mani. I'm located in northern cali, sactown to be exact. Yeah I decided to look into a F50 becuz of the inspiring rides here on vsc and in the vip magazines I've seen. Also becuz most of the folks I roll with got lexus's and id thought id try something different.

The 2 F50s I was going to check out soon, was either a 02 F50 black/black with 128k that's going for 9k and the other was a 02 F50 silver/tan with 104k going for 9600k. 

I guess when is the major service for a F50 is it at 90 or 100k and what's usually done on the car?

Thats actually low milage for the age of the car if u get a 02.  I got about 110 on mine and no issues as of yet

yup! mine has 120k now, just minor things. Good to know if I sell it i can get something above oem asking price haha.

no car fax.

auto check shows a LOT more. Car fax didnt show i had frame damage. Auto check did. I tried selling the car back to the nissan dealer and they noted that after a year later when they went to auto check. even though the "frame" was the core support right side, taking the headlight with it. such crap.

Had about 110,000 miles when I sold.  Both ballasts went out and exhaust leak which is an $1100 piece.

I had mine until 165K miles and headlights worked fine... alittle low but I'm sure that could have been adjusted.   It did have some oil consumption but I hear that is normal.   Tranny felt strong and fine.   I did however have a problem with the front lower control arm bushing but that goes out on almost any car.   Other then that I think the car was pretty solid.

how much did you sell it for?

I got mine at 120k and it was poorly maintained by the old owner lol but now runs great and it's in better hands :) very happy driving it everyday. But it's a used car so I expected to fix shit anyways lol

I have also heard about the cracking in the exhaust manifold. when I was looking for a F50 or Y34.

Also seat issues power, switches going out.

Yeah I know I need to get the car back up to date. Good to know the little and big things to come up.

Drivers power window motor was also very very slow.  Especially when cold.

Sold mine cheap.  6k.   Had one headlight ballast out, exhaust leak, bald rear tires though.  Needed work.
