Finally Can Start a Build Thread (Y33)
Okay, to make a long story short, I had a 2004 Nissan Maxima that needed some work and the cost of the repairs started to get kind of high.. So, for the repair money, I bought a 2000 Infiniti Q45 (Y33) and sold the Maxima for profit.
I came to want a Q45 because shortly after buying the Max, I fell into looking at the VIP style of mods and to say the least.. I love it. My Y33 is my favorite platform I have seen short of the LS460's which are wayyy out of my price range.
I do miss certain aspects the Maxima had, such as, the 0-60, my heated seats and steering wheel, and the gas mileage but for some reason the Y33 seems to fit me better and I can finally stretch out.
It is a work in progress but here are some pics to get it started..

Both foglights have been replaced.

New battery has been installed!
First mods:
-5000k HID headlights (upgrade from factory 4300k)
-eBay Pure White (Blue Bulb) highbeams
-chrome/amber turn signal bulb
Before:
After:
Next mods:
-3000k HID foglights (will run 5000k fogs in the summer)
Next:
-tinted the taillights
That's it so far.. Better pictures are coming after a good wash.
Here are pictures of my Maxima (these wheels will be going on in the summer.. hopefully). There are too many mods to list but the key points were the drop on Eibachs, TSW wheels, full audio system, and custom suede and leather two-tone interior.

Ok, today I picked up my y33 from my interior guy he did a MUCH better job than I expected!

^^As she sits now.
Had to keep the trunk clean because I still carry a lot of stuff back and forth to school. The updates are going to slow down now because I am starting school again soon and trying to save for a graduation cruise

is this a problem with the y33's or something? the owner from the q i recently picked up, has had an aftermarket deck installed & he wired the antenna to a separate switch. So with the flick of the switch the antenna goes up & down.

I never had any issue w/ my antenna on my Pioneer AVIC, antenna only went up when radio was on to, when I listened to CD or iPod, the antenna went down, there's a setting in the AVIC interface for it.
Anyhow, nice car, love the black interior. Pretty surprised that you don't have heated seats, I thought most of them did. Yours looks like a Touring model and I was certain that all the T's had heated seats.

I figured out the solution to the power antenna problem but it puts the antenna up anytime the radio is on at all. I probably will get to hooking it back up but for now, the stations I keep on in the background come in clear enough that at a low volume you cant hear any static..
F.L.S.- I was surprised about the heated seats too. My Maxima had heated seats and a heated steering wheel so its really weird to not have either anymore but the heat in the Q works 500x faster than my Max ever did.
Lowlyfey34- My guy hooked me up phat since I have known him for a while and he was the only one to help me with my Max. He also did my bros trunk in his E36 and its absolutely sick.
Burgy- I wanted to go that route with my tails but I'm not a fan of that orange look. I wanted it to be completely clear like the 97-98s.. I ordered chrome/amber bulbs for the turn signals and thats when I realized it wasnt the bulb giving the orange effect it was the actual housing :pat: Btw, what size exhaust tips are those you have? I am getting my muffler delete soon and I want my tips to be about that size.

I am not actually sure. I will have to measure. As for the tailights, I still intend to remove the inner housing to get rid of that hue but I just have way to many other projects going right now.

Eventually I will be getting rid of them but Exhaust is about 3-4 projects down the list at this point.

Okay, so I have gotten my muffler delete and I put the 20s on. I couldnt find anyone willing to pay what I want plus Ill be graduating in May. After I get a real job, the first thing to do is coils/bags with some better wheels and tires.
In the mean time, Ima run the bejeezus out of these wheels until they go bald and enjoy my "donk" status.

New 6000k HID fogs installed

Muffler Delete with dual 2.5" to 3.5" tips.
I understand the wheels arent VIP or anything but we all have to start somewhere right?

Kinda hard to tell the reflector is tinted but I felt like the bright red was standing out too much so I taped off the clear part and sprayed the inside with black spray paint (not vht), in person it looks professional and fits the door much better imo

So I finally got my brake project done.. My rear brakes were squealing so I decided to do everything the way I wanted it. New ceramic pads on all corners with Alien cross-drilled and slotted rotors. Then I painted the calipers a kinda-sorta Brembo orange to help pull the look together.

Wow, I haven't updated here in a while... So here it goes:
A few months back I picked up a great deal on some Work Bersaglios and left them in my shed until I could get some coils and could mount them the proper way
During this time, I had also purchased an 06 Infiniti G35 coupe as my daily. Once I got the coils on, I washed them both up for a quick driveway shoot:
Shortly after, the Q went in for interior surgery. I haven't taken pics of the headliner/pillars/visors yet but they were all wrapped in black 08+ Infiniti OEM headliner material. I feel like suede is overused and can look "dirty" and I wanted a much more OEM+ look. Also, I had the trunk redone in hardwood, custom tuned ported sub boxes, with an embossed Atlanta Skyline and Infiniti logo on the back wall of the trunk.
...And here's a few more random shots:
Up next, the car is going into paint because a tree branch fell on the hood/fender so since I have to make an insurance claim anyway... Might as well do some other goodies as well :)
After that, I am going on a modding "hold" as I am trying to put every dollar I can into saving for a house.

Up next, the car is going into paint because a tree branch fell on the hood/fender so since I have to make an insurance claim anyway... Might as well do some other goodies as well :)
After that, I am going on a modding "hold" as I am trying to put every dollar I can into saving for a house.

Damn it's looking good dude! You gotta post some interior shots ASAP. Where did you get the headliner material? Also how did you get the headliner out of the car?

The material and how to I dont have much insight on. Im sponsored by a local interior/audio shop Dark Dog Customs. He sourced the material and did the install on all of that and the trunk as well.
We did leave space under the floor because when i end up getting bags, i want to hide the tank and compressors.

Okay so its been a journey... When the Q went to the body shop for the insurance claim, it turns out the rear was previously wrecked so horribly, it was causing a serious water leak to the spare tire well. To make a long story short, the only way to truly fix it is to find another Y33, cut off the rear end, and weld it to mine. To temporarily fix the problem, the tech pulled the rear as close to OEM spec as he could. He ended up pulling one side 12mm and the other side 15mm. When I got it home, I sprayed the entire spare tire well with a can of FlexSeal and ran a bead of silicone around the seam of the rubber moulding where I could find direct leaks. So far, its been in a few heavy rains and it hasnt leaked again. *Fingers crossed*
Beyond that, I had lost my job due to downsizing and have another one now, but the few weeks I was out of work took a toll on my house savings fund so Im back on a modding hold. The next steps I want are bags, headlight retrofit (I already have 2 sets of FX45 headlights, G37 shrouds, xB LED halos), custom LED tails (already have a spare set), redo the entire sound system, and some other goodies.
In the meantime, I hope Im making decent progress...
Before the body work, chillin at a local monthly Nissan/Infiniti Meet with Larry and Donnie.
Some rolling shots heading to a weekly meet:
After the body work and how she will sit for a while....
