Y33 Questions

Okay, I have two questions about my y33..

1) I want to replace my reverse bulbs but the only way to do that is to remove the outer trunk lid? :pat: Does anyone have a write-up or can explain how to do this?

2) My audio guy is building my trunk right now but the harness I gave him is not working. The harness was used on my 2004 Nissan Maxima and shares the same part numbers from Crutchfield and Amazon as the ones said to work for the y33s.. Any ideas as to what's going wrong?

Btw, I am trying to install a Pioneer p3200dvd.

Thanks in Advance

you need a harness with rca's coming out of the end -- instead of using the wired, amplified speaker outputs, you need to plug in the harness rcas into the low-level rca outputs on the head unit.

the harness also comes with 2 pieces, iirc. i've been using the same metra harness since 2007, so i can't help you out with part numbers. good luck!

which year Y33?
typically all you have to do is remove the inner lining in the trunk and you access to all your bulbs from there.

This. I've been running one of the harness I scooped up from Walmart, which doesn't have the RCAs. Kinda sucks. It's either loud, or not loud enough. Not much inbetween.

man i posted it in the other thread...what is your install guy doing? just installing a radio? no power? no sound?...if thats the case the harness you need will be from metra 71-7550 standard nissan harness...the infiniti doesn throw ground so he will have to take the black wire and ground it directly to the infiniti bar right there in the back...solves the NO power issue....and if its no sound...on the pioneer harness and the nissan harness take the blue wire and the blue wire from pioneer and connect them...and done SOUND should be on...you wont need the harness with the rcas cause the infiniti bose system is ass and its easily bypassed...trust me done this on all q45's i have worked on and its all the same for all nissans

Removing center trunk piece is simple...unclip the whole liner

unbolt the 6 - 8mm nuts on the outer edges of the trunk

you will see with a light 4-6 8mm nuts holding the trunk lid down unscrew those

you need to remove the chrome infiniti bar there will be 4 6mm or 7mm nuts you need to remove...you can see them if you shine a light straight up

pull off the chrome piece...and on the license plate unbolt it....and youll see a grommet in between the license plate lights remove that

heres the tricky part...you have to pull the center panel hard to unsnap it from the grommets the hold it in place....which was a bitch...but i just went and clipped off the piece from inside the trunk...you can see them because they are the white nipple pieces....if you dont wanna do that....then just pull on it til it unsnaps....and youll need a long screwdriver or a super long panel popper

thats from what i remember

and once you get off the panel....lights are right there untwist...replace...and be happy!

Thanks everyone! We ended up fixing the issue.. Didnt have the RCA cables lol.

Now I have one more issue.. When I turn on the radio, the antenna doesn't raise. Could this be a simple fix?

Sorry, I was away from the computer for a while so I haven't been back here to check but its a 2000 y33.
