'02 Acura TL *REBUILD* PRAXISxDTMxVIP MODULAR

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]As some of you know my TL is going thru some major changes and I figured it would be appropriate to start a fresh thread of the build progress. [/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]With the help of Team Praxis, DTM Autobody, VIP Modular Wheels, Toyo Tires, NOS Energy Drink and Meguires you may not be able to recognize it next year.  :thumbsup:[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]I'll start with photos of the car the day I dropped it off at DTM auto body. [/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]On the way to DTM, I attended "The Chronicles" 3 year meet/show created by stickydiljoe.com's Joey Lee. As usual, excellent turnout, 99% quality builds and a great atmosphere. With the help of my brother, I drove my E30 and he rolled the TL to Corona, CA for the meet. Here are pics of the TL in its last days of Satin Silver Metallic paint, stock fenders, RAY's wheels, and many dings and dents. Its not that I don’t like the car in its current condition, personally I love where it’s at right now. But its time for me to step this platform up a bit. All those annoying dings and dents filled, front fender straightened, etc, etc. back in September somebody backed into my trunk while I was parked at work, had an incident with my bike rack and a low parking garage(don’t ask lol) so that caused much some large dents on the trunk and roof that were popped and filled.[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]The fender work was what I was really waiting for when it came to seeing the work, and these pictures didn’t disappoint. All metal work on the fender, body line remaining. I really stressed this to DTM, the fact that I wanted to keep the body line with the fender. I see a good number of cars lately that have fender work where the rear fender has lost the body line. I’m not bashing them, IMO it looks much better when the rear fender matches the lines of the front fender.[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]Alright so body work is 100% complete and the car is getting paint this week. I cannot express how pleased I am with the work of DTM. So far the work looks outstanding, and the paint prep as well.  I am counting the days down until I can see the car with paint!!! It should be 100% done next week, at least the paint and body.[/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3][COLOR=white]Check out the test fit of the VIP Modular VX-310, lines on this wheel will flow so well with the TL’s lines.. Its just a test fit!!! Need to get an idea of what widths and offsets to push on the car. Imagine that lip with another inch- inch and a half added to it. Also I’m going with a different finish than what was being test fit. [/COLOR][/SIZE][/FONT]

Agreed. The finished bondo looks absolutely smooth and the metal work looks top notch as well. Are you going with the VX-310's or are they just for test fit purposes?

So what color is this? Now that I go back and look at the other pics, Im just curious, did they spray your rear bumper  first as a test to see if you liked the color before they did the whole car? I like how they cut-in the drip rails, rear body panel, taillight pockets AND bumper reinforcement,,,,, top notch work for sure. It looks like they cut and polish too. 310's will look Dopity dope~swag~dope!

The color is a Mercedes Benz Barolo Red, Yea I'll say it again, extremely pleased with all the work that was completed on the car. Whenever i received an update i had a big ass smile on my face ya know? haha

Mercedes has some of the nicest factory colors in my opinion. I have seen Barolo red in person its pretty understated overall but it really pops when the sun hits. I keep trying to find something to nitpick about your car, but I cant find anything! LOL=) Good job.

Tech One can do it (without cut/weld no less) but its not cheap. This looks similar to the fenderwork I had done (except I didnt want to keep the stock fender lines because G50 fender lines are weird). Anyway, dont wanna jack this thread. Check em out!

TL looks great! Cant wait to see completed pics with the car fully assembled and new wheels on there!!

love the body work, but i dont think the wheels match

the new paint scheme looks pretty good but the face of the wheels seem a bit out of place. maybe it's just me.

As for the door work with the fender job, i don't have pictures of that particular segment of the work. I'll see if i can get some info on that for ya. 

Of course the car isn't finished. Still need to dial in the wheel fitment, especially up front. Going to camber them in slightly so i can air down all the way up front. Some exterior pieces need some love, brakes/rotors, headlights, etc. 

I'll post up better pics as soon as i get some!

Yup made it to SF! Didnt drive it, had the car trailer'd up there(COVERED!). There's a some good photos I've seen of the car from Wekfest on but the photo below is by far my fav. Thanks to Joey from The Chronicles for the shot. Check out his show coverage, top notch!

lol yea me and jay both dropped from 19" to 18".. Much better IMO. Oh yea the fit is dope now. Had the rear fender radius'd to even out with the front fender.

Pics came out dope, SOC kills it with the studio-like pictures!

Just before the SOC shoot, I finally got around to installing my Rotora BBK. 4 pot caliper with 330mm disc, stainless lines. 
I was weary about the bright red calipers looking out of place on the car, but once i got them installed I actually liked the contrasting red against the chrome and paint. Keeping em red for now. Keeping my eyes open for a 2 piston rear set!

I've been meaning to ditch my current exhaust setup for the longest time, so finally picked up the APEXi WS2 catback setup. loving this system. Mufflers are finally starting to resonate and the sound gets better everytime i drive it. Nice deep low tone. And yea, they are shiny too. lol

Suede door cards with red diamond stitching. Also replaced the black marble interior trim with brown burlwood. All pillars, roof, and center console are black suede matched with red stitching as well.
