Whats the going rate:

On our cars. If you were to see a "slight modded, or full modded" VIP car. What are you willing to spend on it. I know stock sometimes can bring a lot more, and a lot less on a lot of the occasion. But I bring it up cause of VIPdOut's cars for sale. And it got me thinking. 

My F50 2002, has everything but the radar cruise

Standard rear seats in now Black suede headline and pillars, and lower seats.
120k miles
rolled and pulled fenders. soon to be all repainted. Kouki front.
home made Coilovers, full straight exhaust no cats. 
always super maintained. 

If I was to sell, what would be the going rate? Clean title, did have quarter panel passenger side replaced with shotty body work now fixed. core support right side was replaced but no frame damage, no bags blown.

well if i were an average person i'd be scared of a modified car unless it seems "basically stock."

if i were a noob looking for an already modified car i'd pay more for one.

as someone who likes to build cars i would stay away from one that has already been modified unless it is a really good deal with parts i could sell off it.

if you were selling your car the only people you'd be appealing to would be the noob or someone who wants a deal.

it's always better to part out/return to stock unless you're willing to take a heavy loss.

Through a popular automotive marketplace searching only the 2002 models with over 100k within any distance including both from dealer and private sellers, came back with 48 results:
highest price was: $12,991
lowest price: $4,991
average price: $9,058
 
Granted these were mostly stock / non modified (didn't want to deal with different variables and just give you a median) F50's but hopefully this will give you a fair unbias answer to your question.

Man it all depends. One time I was approached at a gas station and ended up selling a car for literally 5 times what I paid. Another time I just couldnt find a seller, and kept getting lowballed, ended up selling a car for less than 1/2 what I paid. Its all about supply / demand. If someone wants to buy your ride because it is unique (custom or rare) then they'll likely pay good money. Not everyone who buys modded cars is a noob, some of them just dont want to go through the hassle, or dont have the vision to execute a higher level build. But if someone is looking for a deal, then of course then gonna go for the lowest price, so all depends on the situation. It usually just takes time to find that right buyer.

I think the only thing you got going against you is that the KBB value of the F50 just seemed to tank over the past few years, imo much lower than it should be. I think in some cases this makes the F50 appear to be "worth" less than what it should be. This factors into things like financing (most ppl finance and that is based off KBB value). But on the other hand, the car is custom, and you might just come across the right buyer that will pay what the car is worth to you. Good luck! And either way you win because you still end up with a dope ride.

Yeah, for sure. I was thinkin like 12 to 15 depending if i put on the kouki rear parts. My wheels wont be on it for sure, and will get something else to put on it.

I contemplated it cause before I go further in where I want to go with it. I have to ask, is it just a relationship that will end, or am i gonna go all out and get married to it. Pretty back and forth on it. I really love the car it has been awesome, and looks awesome even in its under construct phase I drive it in. 

I just am runnin out of room, and I still have not bought the Phantom, or the Bentley I have been wanting. Almost picked up a Phantom that needed some minor front end stuff for 70k. I lost the bid by a 1500 dollars. And it kinda woke me up, I was like would if I won it, where would i put it? i cant park it here at the house. S55 was a tight fit, could park on the other side but I would lose my work bench.

I just think it might be time to move on from it, but still be apart of VIP. Its something I been into a long time that I finally got to do. I dont need different chassis, the F50 is litterally perfect (in my opinion) Learned a lot about it, and learning made it easier to work on. 

But what is the likely hood of not selling it local, I could all day probably since we are apart of a huge navy and ship yard area with very good money. But if I sold it on the forum its a bigger problem on selling out of state. Not like you would really want to drive a vip car out on long state to state drives. and If put to stock, it would look weird as hell cause of the fenders.

if you have the money to drop on a bentley why not just spend it on making your f50 EXACTLY how you want it? if figure for that amount of money you could build just about the most badass f50 in the us.

Do not disagree at all. In fact, that is what the whole thing behind it was. To me, its not about selling that car to fund another. More cars on insurance the better LOL. But seriously. Not saying I am going to go out and buy a 280k Rolls. I never buy new, ever.. That goes against what I am about and what I preach to others on money management. 

But now that prices are coming down slightly for what I want, and in a comfortably spending area, I been wanting to pull the trigger. The whole reason why i wanted the busted Phantom was to fix it, and drive for a few, get out my system and sell it for I have into it. Or, start a rental company, or ***** it out to rappers or movies etc to make cash back from it. 

I could totally take that money and make a "badass" f50. At the end of the day, its still just a pimpin infiniti q45. (which, nothing wrong with) But to have spent 70k on a q45 worth under 15 not so much. When I could get ferrari 360 for that much, and then put some more money into it. The point is the room more so the car its self. So why not get what I have wanted to buy for the 8 to 12 years, and do something to that? Its like killin to birds with one stone. 

Even if, you were to buy a phantom at going rate of 120k and less, and a Arnage for 40k to 70k you are getting 200k worth of beyond mediocre car for less. Phantom with the v12, and the arnage with a v8turbo with Connely leather everywhere, real wood, and the name that goes with it is what makes it worth it. To me, those cars are still VIP. Been saying it for years, yet no one agreed with me. Now, Junction Produce companies alike, have all adapted the european cars to VIP. and now, all of a sudden its okay when I was ridiculed for it before.

But who knows. This whole thread was started on a "if" I am looking for business promotion, and hopefully, maybe, a sponsor on the forum. If I find room to have my cake and mod it too, I will.

if you wanted to go that route definitely being a demo car for jp and a prop/show car would be the way to go if you want to make any money back.

the thing about an f50 is that you could make it cool for much less since the initial investment is much lower.

to me it's more fun to [I]try[/I] to make one car better than another for less money. if you want to use it as a prop car it will be less expensive to insure as well so it could be used in more productions than just csi miami and badboys 49.







if you just want one of those cars just to be "real vip," that's badass, but then you shouldn't give a shit about the price of anything because you're "ballin." since you clearly are concerned about price, you can be just as vip without the extreme brand mark up in an f50. it [I]is[/I] an infiniti after all :D

The VIP used market is very tiny...I'd say microscopic compared to regular car buyers.   Big thing hurting is that alot of people have forgotten about the Q45 since it's not even in production anymore since 07?   Infiniti/Nissan resale has always sucked.   And it has a V8 to top it off...

Trying to make a lesser a car better than another car (with in reason our side of racing or restoring) is sadly why no one has dreams anymore. I remember back when it was cool to have a Lamborghini poster, or a Ferrari F40 poster on the wall. Now days since grand turismo, and fast and furious came out. It gave the people who didnt make shit to have no aspiration to do better cause you can make better with what you have. Which is fine if you are poor, have a minimum wage job living in low income. But you shouldnt be modding cars anyway. 
 Anyone can make a civic go faster than a Lamborghini. But, its just a fwd econo car with the intent to get groceries and your happy ass to work with the motor in front. Sure you could put Lamborghini doors on it, then it would be ricer. But why is it ricer? I think its a contradiction really. They all say its rice to be like a higher end car, yet, they think it is stupid and a waste of money to buy that higher end car? Hence Built over Bought. Ferrari and Lamborghini is priced to what it is cause of the engineering behind the car. If a acura integra, looked like a 355 Ferrari, had the motor in the back it would cost almost as much ( oh wait, they call that the nsx)

 Which brings why we have the so called 99 percent wishing they can get free money and be equal cause the person who decide to work hard made the money to buy that Lambo instead. Just fruits of his or her labor in what they do.. They arent going to buy a civic.. Well they might, but majority isnt going to try and make it faster than a Lamborghini.

If I was baller, I still would not buy something brand new. That is just waste of money. People dont become baller by throwing money out the window on depreciation. I am okay with normal deprecation on a used vehicle. Especially if you are going to buy it on credit. car depreciates faster than you can pay it off, much like what happen to the housing market. I dont need to have the newest car to prove someone my "ballerness" I would rather have someone say, bro, you are a smart mother fucker. Warren Buffet has lived in the same home since the 60s, has the same truck since the 80s. Yeah, he can buy us all brand new Maybachs cause he is Ballin, but he doesnt. Its not a wise investment, as I see, and he sees everything as a investment, even if you are going to lose money on something you buy. Its better to lose little than to lose a lot on something you can "afford" and when I mean afford, I am not talking about makin payments.. Those are fake ballers, anyone can finagle payments to get what ever they way, thats not earning it! And it sure as hell aint your car its the fuckin banks car til you pay it off. ( that is if you keep it long enough to pay it off)

 I, will loan against the car up to a certain point. If I am buying some car like a Q45, or a project car, your damn right, I am going to keep my credit going. But, that full pay off money is in a savings account to pay off the car at anytime, but making interest, and taking out to make payments. I would go so far as to maybe, maybe getting a loan on a Ferrari. Just cause i know, if you buy it out right, and you wreck it or someone crashes into you. You are out the entire amount of cash you put into it. If it is a loaned on a note, you will have gap insurance which will protect you. As well as getting the car appraised for more so if something happens you will get money back from the loss of the car. (which is the smart way of buying something exotic)

Insurance is no big deal when you have no record at 30 years old either

Honestly it depends on the buyer. I sold my salvage title 350z all done up for 16k. You just have to find the right person at the right time.

It depends on the car and your region.  Since vip and modded F50's in general are rare out there, just ***** it out.  Drive it around with a for sale decal (not a sign, this is vip after all).  Go to meets/shows.  Park it by nice restaurants as well as auto related places like wheel shops, etc.

probably also depends on where youre located as far as local sales go.  not enough of a car culture and no one will want it, too much of a car culture and your car is a dime a dozen
