Awesome. I love the old school lowriders and kustoms. Crazy how they emulate the aesthetic all the way down to the hair and dress, and the lifestyle.

Thats, what I was thinking. They do cars hard in Japan: Lowriders, rat rods, Lead Sleds and VIP. We need to step it up.

Some beautiful cars.
I wonder how much work is being done over there. Or are they buying them here and shipping them over. I know I've seen quite a few cars - especially rat rods lately - being bought and shipped over.

I've heard that one way they get old school american cars over there is through military connections. Someone gets stationed out there, ships the car over, drives it for a while, then they can sell it. Dont remember all the rules and regulations. But I've been told doing it this way is cheaper and easier than a direct import (which can be big $$$). Japanese car enthusiasts go crazy for old school muscle cars (and others), will pay big dollars. I tried to do this once through a "broker" that was actually just a friend of mine. Got a ridiculous offer on one of the boosted Camaros I used to own. But the deal ended up falling through and I ended up blowing up the car racing my friends Supra on the freeway. Doh!!!

What I think is funny is. They personify what American culture is here. Yet we hardly have an "American" culture our selves

Obviously rockabilly's are just revamped old school, still driving old cars. But that's what America was, not anymore. The only thing we have left that ties cars and culture (culture meaning way of life through dress, living, food, and cars) is hip hop and country. Which is not really living so much in the past like the Rockabilly.

Our meaning USA, is a melting pot for every culture now that there isn't that "strong" factor anymore. VIP Style Car here in the states is just us doing what we do to cars, but do we dress, eat, and live like those in japan? Hardly. Low rider is more hispanic culture than it is American, it was made here but not really a USA thing. USA is more country with big trucks and western gear and horses. And you have the hip hop aspect of big wheels clothes and music. Which is often emulated in japan as J-lug.

It is just funny to see other countries pose as us, and adapt a culture we are trying to hang onto and do it better. I think maybe if we step back, and look in as they do, we might be better.
