LOL OK - you're one of those ppl, who thinks its ok to buy a 15 year old Infiniti for $3K, put $2K wheels on it and call it VIP....but having sportmax wheels is somehow a bad thing?

I love the way my box looks with the new Sportmax 504 wheels!

I have to agree with you on this one..MOd your car the way YOU WANT IT and not what everyone says..I have "knockoff wheels" also on my van..*edit*, my whole van is a knock off.. Do I give a *edit* what people say?? It annoys me sometimes but I really don't give a crap..Even the custom chopper I'm building right now is a "budget beater" and has a whole lot beter parts than those "kit bikes"..And mines costed me a whole lot less!!

Whether you like it or not, knockoffs are here to stay!!

Dunno....probably a vertex knockoff :p

Seriously though....haven't narrowed it down 100% yet, I am narrowing my choices to kit with an available urethane front bumper, from my past experience FRP/fiberglass don't last too long on a daily driver before they're all chipped up.

Well the car is an extension of the driver...so...

If you spray some of that truck bed liner inside your front bumper (thin coat), if you end up chipping it, it will stay together and you can re-fiberglass it later.

Might want to consider a drop and most likely some spacers in the back once the car is lowered.

Thanks for the suggestions - I was talking more about the paint chipping with FRP/fiberglass rather than actual fiberglass breaking.....softer materials like urethane or abs painted with a good flex additive tend to hold up better from my experience.

I really agree - I'm lowered 1.8" with Eibach, and I'd like to be another inch lower so I'm debating whether I want coilovers or air. As far as spacers, I'm already out 10mm with a hub spacer, and really close to my already rolled fenders, I think when it's dropped a bit more it will flush up nicely.

Ryan, this is Scionscotty from the other site. Welcome. To really nail the VIP stance, youll definetly need that drop, and another 10mm of spacing in the rear (for an effective offset of +12) before you get there (and another 5mm in front or so). Gotta roll them fenders and slam it low :) Looking good though.

It's the profile that no one likes. the design is cool and there is the "illusion" of deep dish wheels. These will create a lot of wannabees. But you did get a little stretch. good start anyway.

Red Genie, who is no longer around, made a front lip for the xB back in the day....in 03-early 2004 not long after the Scion came out. I don't think they ever made a full lip kit, but if you look at my first pic, the shot of the front, you can see the front lip.

I had it painted, and it sat in my garage for about 2 years, until I decided to actually put it on a month or two ago....

Cool, thanks for the info....

What exhaust are you getting? I am trying to pick one out as well, but can't seem to find a good one that goes with a VIP look. I'm considering starting with the Tanabe Medallion Touring. I want just a tiny bit more sound than stock, not loud at all, so I think for the muffler I'll go with that, or Apex'i World Sport - see how the tip looks, and if it doesn't flow with the look I'll just fab a different tip that looks a bit more VIP.

Your car is real clean ,I too committed a wheel crime when I picked up my Axis wheels they look cool and I really have'nt had a problem with them but after being here for awhile I figured it out and you will too Im sure. I was fortunate enough to find my wheels here and know the fitment will be right on. Stick around keep your project going and I know it will be nice.

Ya at first I thought the forum was super negative, and everyone was bashing any wheels not costing $5,000 but after I spent some time here, I realized that people just have different views of VIP. Some think that spending $800 on used wheels that have rust and curb rash from 1990 is VIP, just becuase of the brand, and others think it's about keeping the look clean, with brand new parts, and the "VIPness" comes from the look, rather than the brands you buy.

But it's cool - it's what makes everyone individuals....if everyone thought the exact same way, it would be so boring!

BTW you wanna know the funniest part - Sportmax produces 2.4 million wheels a year, 20% end up in the US and 60% are sold in Japan, making it a hell of a lot more "JDM" than most people think :)

Too bad these particular Sportmaxes didn't come in better sizes. A drop and spacers are definately needed.

So far it looks good, don't let anyone discourage you because of the brand you bought, just do your own thing =]
