LS400 Transmission Problems
Okay, So I did a drain and fill about 2 weeks ago...well actually i took the pan off and changed the transmission filter and transmission pan gasket, since then is when I have been having problems.... on my works alldata system is says a drain and fill calls for 2 quarts...So I changed it with 2 quarts and it has been slipping and acting up since then... I will put it into gear and it will be delayed and sometime it will get into gear and i will give it gas but it will barely move....so now it has finally gotten worse and what it seems like is that in park its not really in park.....
when its in park now I will rev it up and it seems like it under load...neutral will move foward and so on....reverse wont go anywhere...it seems like thats in neutral when the shifter says its in Reverse
Im guessing I can do the full flush on the transmission and see if that makes it better, but i dont wanna waste the time or money if that is not or doesnt fix the problem....cause thats like $80 in just fluid
Any thoughts or ideas????

why don't you use the tranny dipstick to check the level?
another possibility is that the transmission fluid was not changed regularly which caused errosion to the clutches and the only thing keeping them grabbing was the particles in the tranny fluid. they make friction modifiers for this.

well the reason I say this is because with the car off the dipstick read perfect on cool
so i check it with the car running for alittle while and it didnt reach the correct mark on hot.
have you heard anything like this before and yea i have heard of friction modifiers

did you let the fluid settle before you checked the dipstick? it's pretty easy to get a false reading if you filled it through the dipstick tube.
people having issues after tranny flushes is not uncommon, for the reason i stated.

I can only go with the reason I stated then, but I'm not a mechanic. Maybe someone else will have some better input.

u need to add more fluid....make sure u put t type fluid also
drain n refill is when u drain the bolt and just refill... what u did was take off the pan and more fluid came out than just taking out the drain bolt.. try adding about one more quart n recheck.

did you touch the valve body at all when you dropped the pan? a drain and fill does not involve pulling the pan and filter. i believe that filter should last the life of the car, no matter what mileage. did you use FIPG to seal the pan? could there have been excessive gasket material that leaked into the pan and caused damage?

I didnt not touch the valve body at all....i know but for some reason i thought i should of dropped the pan and changed the filter...i used correct seal and definately not excessive gasket material or anything in there
