Sporty VIP?

i literally have no idea how to explain how i feel about this other than by saying i love where this is going! in this thread i am looking for opinions and criticisms on this newish trend in the VIP scene.

IMO i do not think this is the future of VIP for i believe the traditional elitist will always be around to keep us honest, but i do love change.

so what do you guys think? do you like this branch off of VIP? do you think this is the future of VIP or a completely different thing? i have found a handful of minkara profiles where the owners have labeled their cars as 'Simple VIP' which are cars with tucked and not so flush wheels (which i also think is perfect fitment dependent on overall style of the build).

You should be more detailed on the characteristics of what you mean

Too me I'm personally a fan of alot of the sporty type look 
I/e - mesh/spoke/race type wheels, Carbon fiber pieces and few vents but that's about it

i dont think certain mods make it sporty or not.. its an overall look. if anything i think wheel fitment is probably the most differential characteristic.

Traditional OG vip is my favorite, just simple and gangster. I love all vip "styles" such as the demon camber, and the crazy flashy colors and crazy radius fenders, but the OG style like the white f50 is my favorite. After all isn't being ganster what VIP style is all about?

i love them all as well!!! =) i chose the sportier VIP because i thought it provided more of a challenge =)

well this tells me that you support the sportier look since these could be considered sporty, although any 1 of these by themselves on a traditional vip build wont be enough to make it a sporty build. i suck at explaining shit! LOL ima try to use pictures....

Is "simple VIP" easier,cost effective and more reliable to build in terms of wheel fitment?...and if yes then we should see the trend move in that direction...

i guess its in the eye of the beholder as well! cant wait to see where everyone takes this =) please lets not argue!

in my personal opinion yes! but i think we also see alot of people in search of the more challenging builds =)

the wheel fitment is the most obvious difference but it doesnt necessarily make it 1 way or the other. definitely an overall look.

ok so lets use the while celsior and orange aristo as examples.... 

in my opinion i love them both and would love to build both! 

which styling does everyone else prefer? 1 or the other?

Will the wheel type mesh etc...make a difference? I guess I am just trying to create a specific characteristic between both..

Celsior for me all day....my wheels have to be always tucked as much as possible and body kit as closer to the ground as possible...

Personally I prefer the simple tucked look. It's a bit more classy in my opinion. I think major flush over Cambered rides are sexy as hell, but I have to give my side to the original simplistic look. Then again, I guess I'm biased

it really depends on the wheels I think.


If I threw some te37s on my F50 when it is blue, it would be sporty spice ( I mean vip) and If i kept the Amistads it would be wild vip cause of the color, but the wheels call it vip'ish. 

Or, maybe not cause its 3:30am 

But making drifting classy thread shows that sporty can be elegant. Granted if he goes with a chrome cage and 6spd or keep it 2pd and a fuck a 2way diff, these cars are big. You need a 3way diff lol.

I have always these styles as well the others. I can't see the newness your describing but I will shoot an opinion and critic since you asked. 
Flush or tucked has always been a preference based on taste, knowledge, and income. In this pic it looks as tho the white with curtains chose mesh in sizing 19 or below with little offset. Makes the body look bigger which I like. Wheels swallowed up but that's not the appealing factor. For me it's the choice of parts and how they work together to create a flow. 
Aggressive or like stock is all OG to me. Daniel its the little subtle details I like that increase the appearance without all in your face however I show the same courtesy for all builds "mostly". Funny you mention sporty cuz years ago someone would throw up "exe" and say " that's not this, or that because". 
Sorry to use you Oscar, but his car for example. Smooth clean lines, but a lot of work and quality parts. Maticoulous thought is there without the glam and frills. 
I hope I touched on you request. I've been out forever but appreciation hasn't changed. And the styles really haven't either IMO .

Also while I was washing the dishes, thought about the future of VIP since you brought it up. I think the premise will always be the same with slight changes in styling. Possibly some male pattern baldness with cat gut. Rappin with the guys about the same ish with our now classic high milaged cars and some young punk checking out the ride at a car show whilst your bending over with your walker polishing up the lip cuz you missed a spot. That kid thinking damn he's old....
For me tho it's the people involved, I mean the people build the cars so....says something about them.

I'm not sure with the simple vip, but there's definitely a movement into the sporty vip as you said in the title. You see the more use of CF, vented fenders, vented hood, diffuserr, "tuner" wheels, engine mods, blacked out chrome, etc. These weren't used as much lets say 3 years ago? I got VIP magazines and it's the simple VIP styling, not these elaborate and intricate builds we see nowadays.

Personallly, I love the sporty look and that's the direction where I'm taking the LS430. Going to have an in between look of sporty and luxury this year and next year it'll be fully sporty VIP.

I prefer the traditional VIP style with rear wheel tuck in, look so gangsta. Not a fan of oni camber and radius fender.

However it's still depends on the platform you are working on. For vehicles such as LS400, LS430 or the 2GS I will go for the traditional style ie. simple lip kit and quad muffler,. For the newer model (ie. LS460 LS600h, 3GS) I will go for slightly sporty look e.g. vented fender, rear diffuser etc.

 I'm a Lexus guy so the example I gave are all Lexus =)

i think the "sporty" look just reflects the younger generation that is now coming into the vip world, that had roots in drifting/road racing, instead of trying to just emulate the yakuza cars like when it first started. since i too have a drifter backround, i trully love to see sporty items show up on vip cars, like carbon hoods/vents/splitters.

I can't really say which one I am more of a fan of..I like seeing them done up equally  although some days I prefer the "traditional look" of VIP styles and some days I prefer extreme oni camber look. 
Although I personally would never want to achieve an oni camber stance on my ride (for the obvious reasons) it is a sight to marvel at and I welcome both types of builds, anything to mix it up.
For me the epitome platform for a "sporty vip build" is a GS300 and on the opposite side of the coin for oni camber is the Y33.
The traditional vip platform fits so well for newer models ie: F50 LS430,460 but this is all in my honest opinion so I expect their to be many different variations of answers of agreement and disagreement throughout this thread.

I have 20" TE37's on my 04' LS430. Why? Cause they're my favorite wheels and I wanted to go a different route.

I like all styles...except donk. But they are fun to look at. LOL.

I love both the OG VIP look and the sporty VIP look. I'm an elitist when it comes to which platform to build with, but other than that VIP is still VIP. It's just a different twist.

I hear what you're saying Cuban.  I look at many of the new builds as having a much more sporting feel to the old VIP style.  I am a fan of both, provided that the execution is right.  However when it comes to my personal taste, it lies with the traditional VIP style.

I think what's meant by sporting style VIP is something that LOOKS extreme as to the overall execution of the build.  Traditional or simple is something that makes a big statement without any obvious or "extreme" modifications.  Something about a big body, little camber, little tuck, very neat and proper looking sedan, with clean lines works for me.  These cars have a much more mature presence to them in my eyes.  This new "simple VIP" seems to be a continuation of the "EXE" style of old.  I'd call this style the hot wife.  You know she's not as crazy hot as the neighbors model girlfriend, but there's still something about her that keeps you coming back home.

The new style of sporting VIP is the more aggressive end of the spectrum.  There are tons of builds that carry huge weight due to the extreme modifications needed to bring out the look.  Larger, sharper kits, more aggressive and muscular body lines, more poke, more camber, it's simply more of everything.  This style I'd consider the model girlfriend.  She makes an obvious impression at first sight, and can sway even the most faithful.

Long story short... both make a profound statement, they simply do it in different ways.  My way has always been to walk softly and carry a big stick.  ; )

I like the sporty VIP look on the newer cars (ISF, LS460) but I still enjoy the simple OG VIP a lot more on the OG LS430/GS2/ etc...

I will always love the simple OG VIP style but I can dig the simple Neo Sporty look.  I don't really dig the ridiculous vents or the crazy diffusers.  The Neo Sporty that I like still keeps it simple.

I truly get tired of seeing things done the exact same old way, but I appreciate the originals and the inspiration carried over. The new "sporty" is not my personal taste but I can respect the links above. Will I ever venture off and go wild/sporty? No! Is there a simple vip look? yes!  Is there the yakuza OG style, I believe so. There must be a classification in every aspect of life, this is how we make sense of things I suppose. This doesn't make it the truth. Doesn't mean that's the future of vip neither. Just another 'click'. I'm sure We all know the love and appreciation and dedication it takes to make a "bad ass ride." Versus the Joe schmoe who wants the "in-car" w/ out pumping loot into it.  

I personally feel if you have and idea, or unique view of your car implement it, "screw the guideline," so to speak, it's your car. Somewhere in all of this what was once a simple display of passion and common interests, things became "american idol." Who's better, who's worst, who spent the most, etc etc. Me personally I just love cars whether it's Detroit steel, or Uncle Ben's rice. You bring a quality car past these beautiful brown eyes and I'll adore it. In the end..........Vip means something different to each person  basically, so just kick up a lawn chair, and grab a glass of lemonade. 

Times change people change. I like the refreshing styles as well as the classics.

I can respect and enjoy other "types" but this is how I design and model my cars after. Simplicity.

VIP-gt. it's been around for a long while. Its just really started gaining popularity recently tho. That's the direction I've tried to take my van.

I love this topic. I ordered mesh wheel 2yrs ago bc I felt this would be the next movement in VIP. Mainly, bc the European market has seemingly gone to a sportier look. When you consider the origins of the movement, sporty VIP was only a matter of time.
