2004 Infiniti y34/m45 coilover help!

I'm about to order parts shop MAX coilovers for my y34 I live on long island and need suggestions on where to bring the car to and a complete list of what I need

you must be very new to the hobby.   If you are somewhat mechanically inclined you might want to try doing it yourself and spend the money you were going to use on the install on some tools.   Tools are a great investment.    If this job does require you the removal of the spindle and welding and reusing it on the MAX coilovers then maybe that can just be sent out to get done.  good luck!

Max coils require welding.

Yeah I know they need to be welded I looked up everything on parts shop max coilovers just wanted to know the extras I could do the whole job myself but I figured since I need welding and exhaust work done bc of the drop

nothin extra needed. either get some spare struts or use your originals to cut/weld onto the spindles. couple zip ties for the brake lines. and tools. 
 
if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can do all the labor of taking it all apart/re-installing...just take the struts and coilover sleeves to a reputable welding shop to cut/grind/weld them up. i paid $70 to get mine welded, but i did the cutting and porting so the sleeves slid in nicely.

Yeah in the process of looking for someone.. Do u guys recommend a camber kit?

It already comes with camber plates. I have mine almost maxed out, had them maxed out for a while, and will be maxing them out again later this week after I install my rear camber and toe arms from psMAX.

nothing confusing about it bro. the front coils have camber plates.....its obv pbm plates can do like -5 or -6 (confirm this for me kev lol) but my megan plates only go to -3 (booo).

i am at -3.6 with my factory eccentrics maxed out in the rear. if you want moar camburr then get some 350z/g35 rear camber arms. but i'm content with my rear setup. front needs a lil tweakin now since i just dropped it more recently.

Ok, you want lots of negative camber, your kit includes the camber plates for the front. If you want more than the -5 or so you can get out of the factory eccentric bolts in the rear, you'll need to start replacing arms. IMO first thing, get it all installed, max out the camber settings and go from there.

cool thing i liked bout the pbm coils is they set them up to HAVE negative camber from the start lol then give you mucho room to adjust.

i completely understand now once i order the coils i will post lots of pictures of the whole installation...LAST QUESTION...about how far up from the bottom of the stock strut should i cut it

I made a thread of my megan install if u want pix for reference, but i cut it flush with the spindle.

nope, just remove the factory rear spring. the rears are bolt on otherwise.

Noob, but basically anything for the Y34 is going to have to be cut and welded to the spindle...correct?

Maxx seem to get great reviews, does BC make a setup for the y34 also

pbm is the only direct y34 application, but you still have to cut/weld the spindle. megan and bc make coils with spindles for the y33......you can use them on the y34 but you have to slot the rear strut mount holes and get a z32 rear lower mount and do a lil grinding.

Its been 10 years almost since this car has been out. You'd figure there would be a bit more complete option...but then again I guess its a pretty rare car.

BC y33 come with spindle (so no cutting needed) then I just need z33 rear spindle (who makes a decent one?)

Ive got megan y33 coils on mine but i had to weld onto the spindles. Megan does make a kit with spindles now. You will need the z32 rear lower mounts tho...megan sells them also

Yeah, these are pretty rare only about 8000 total built for both years, I got my '03 in Feb. and haven't seen another in person ever. The demand is just not big enough to support many after market items. Later.

there are plenty of jdm options, just not many budget u.s. based ones. same story as it's always been. somehow the game  got f**ked up and no one is willing to spend more than a stack on one of the most vital components of a build, yet they'll spend 2-3x as much making silly sized wheels fit, buying a kit, buying air ride, etc. customers determine the market, and unfortunately the high end coilover segment is dead.

you willl not need the z32 lower mount if you doo it right and order z33 rears. z32 forks were an early solution that wasn't very well thought out. the similarities between the z33 and y34/f50/y50 make them the obvious choice.
