CF Interior.....

Finally decided to tackle the interior of my new project and tried my hand at covering the wood dash pieces with CF. I know it's not for everyone, but I'm going for a sporty look.

I used Magical Carbon from Senko http://youtu.be/uU9deH-xgUE

The stuff is fairly easy to use....similiar to DNoc, but don't get this confused with the 3M crap. This is real CF with adhesive backing. I wrapped the pieces first and covered all the curves and contours.

After it set, I applied 3-4 coats of clear enamel to fill in the texture since out of the box, Magical Carbon has texture to the surface. After that, I knocked it down with 320 grit, then applied about 3-4 more coats, knocked it down again with 320, applied a final 2 coats, and then hit it with 1000 grit. Then I polished it with body scrub, then polish, then.....WOW.....high gloss with deep dimension and detail.

It's a little time consuming, but for a fraction of the cost of custom carbon, it's a very inexpensive alternative. I bought the XL sheet for a couple hundred bucks and covered all wood panels with the one sheet.

Really nice out come
Been thinking the past few years of doing my interior pieces similarly, spray glue - carbon matt - resin - finish with sanding/polishing. This is gonna get me do mine faster =)

I was going to dip, but it's expensive and does not have the depth that this real CF has.

The pieces will go on my SC430.

Not much to update....my builder went AWOL for a month, but hopefully back in the saddle. Everytime I get into a big build, someone drops the ball, and it's not me....
