Build Thread: Y33 SOCAL

Previously car got totaled last month. Wanted to get into the VIP scene, decided to pick up a Y33. Gonna be a slow build. Picked this up today. 2000 with 120,000 on the clock. Engine still has power, new tires, and paint is flawless.

Thanks! Going air for sure. I still have my management from my previous car, so that's going in there. But still want to gain more knowledge on suspension. Still confused about welding coilovers to the spindle. And what UAS bag works with what. Haven't found any DIY's or anything.

Yeah I was reading his build. But he didn't really go into details on what he did. I might have to PM him.

It's black with tan interior with grey on the door and dash.

$5500. but with the condition I felt it was a good pick up. I could be wrong. But I've been searching for a little over a month. And I couldn't find one better than this at the same price. It was actually priced higher with the other y33 I've seen. I don't know, you tell me if I got a good deal?

welcome to the forum... very nice pick up. I like the color combo and the paint does seem to be in very good shape.

super clean car. the price is def higher than what you can get one of these cars for but its well worth the price considering the condition. its totally worth spending the extra dime on a car worth pouring money into IMHO

anyone know where I can get a obdII scanner? Or get it scanned? My "service engine soon" light came on. Is that the same as check engine? Sorry if that question is noob.

Hit me up with whatever questions you have, i dont have tons of pictures but i got a couple on the megan/uas setup. Also with the new megan system you dont need to weld anything comes with a new spindle.

I think kragen/oreilly or autozone can scan it for free if you go over to them. or you can use mine but I live in aliso viejo. Good investment on getting a scanner though. I had to use it on my Q and diagnosed O2 problems and changed them and it all went away.

yeah, got it scanned the other day. found the problem. O2 sensor. Changing it next week, probably why I've been getting bad gas mileage lately.

recently changed my o2 sensors because service light came on for one. ended up changing spark plugs and filter. when I changed the spark plugs, one plug was oily, I guess I didn't clean it well because my car misfired when the new one was in. I started to take everything else out and had it wiped down and cleaned before I had to put it back in. I know I have to change my valve cover gasket. Thats my next job.

my old filter vs. new one. previous owner didn't care I guess.

Yeah I did! Thanks. It was one plug that had a little oil on the connection with the coil packs. Read it somewhere that someone took it all out and just cleaned it and cleaned inside. Now it runs well!

thats good, but unless the tip of the spark plug was covered in oil....i dont see how a lil oil in the tube would cause a misfire. the level would have to be as high as the tip of the plug to cause an issue.

^ I agree. Even though the porcelain ends of my plugs where a dark brown from all the oil residue, my rough idle returned after just a week after replacing the leaky gasket. My guess is you do have a coil going bad.
