Strip LED's install for a y50 m45

anyone ever done em?  im curious to how to get the head light housing open.  ive heard that its best to use a heat gun.  anyone have a write up for it or know anyone who has done it.  any help is appreciated.

I read in a few places that it's best to put them in the oven.

250* for 5 minutes I think.

Although...I don't think it will look good.

ive always done 10-12 minutes at 200* for every headlight i've taken apart

Correct me if Im wrong.. But isnt a heat gun the better route? Im going to do a projector retrofit down the line and I was told heat gun over oven anyday.. :shrug:

Oven is best route so that the adhesive is uniformly heated up.  I just did mine at 200 for 8 minutes and then put them back in for 2-3 minutes at a time as needed to keep adhesive warm and plyable.

i did mine for 6 minutes at 250, no problems.

How bout just dont melt the lights lol its not hard to throw em in the oven for a few min. I prefer the lower temp so no risk of warping anything from overheating.....and ive torn apart atleast 8 pairs of lights in the past 2-3 years for modding

i use a heat gun and can probably get them open before your oven preheats. imo it's the better method.

maybe. lol. but is there a need to rush when modding lights that 5 extra minutes will hurt?

is there any reason to make it harder than it needs to be? not to mention the increased risk of melting your lights, the potential health hazard from cooking lights in the same oven you eat out of, etc.

the only thing in that list i would be somewhat concerned about is heatin up plastics in the oven....but i dont hardly use it....so oh well :shrug:
