2006 Maxima with a little vip inspiration
And when I say a little, it's really a little lol. Super long time lurker, new poster. I've always loved vip style cars, but I know my mentality isn't fit for it. I've had this car since new and I don't really want to do too much to it anymore, but I at least want to get it to a point where I MIGHT be satisfied and leave it alone. I don't want to lower the car too much more, because honestly I'm not the most careful person when it comes to dips and potholes and I've already experienced some nice subframe contact. I'm not trying to build a vip styled car, but since I've been influenced by this forum I figured I should be a little more active so I can get some feedback and help.
Here is my car, lowered on BC Racing coilovers on XXR 521's, 20x8.5" +32 with 15mm spacer fronts and 20x10.5" +30 rears. I didn't care much what wheels I had a year ago, so I just got what looked decent. In some pictures you can see the subframe, I know many drive lower, it's just not for me.
So that's how my car sits as of right now. I always scan the wheel classifieds on different forums and craigslist just for sh!ts when back in November I came across some step lip Work Euroline DH's in 20x8.5" +30 and 20x10.5" +25. I've always loved Euroline DH's, and I love step lips, so I figured why not try it. Some of the faces were oxidized, the center caps were horrible, and there was curb rash, but I figured it was worth it to refinish them. Found out after getting them that every rim was out of round :madgo:, but I got them straightened and the lips polished. They've been collecting dust for almost half a year and I FINALLY did a test fit (15mm spacer in front, would like to go 20).
So now I'm stuck on what to do about the faces. On one side of the car, the oxidation isn't too bad, but all 4 center caps need to be refinished. The wheel finish I think is silver polish (diamond cut), and I love how it looks on the car, but I don't think it can be restored to the same finish. My car is silver, and I love how the faces are brighter than the car. I don't want fully polished, and I probably want something clear coated. I'm a noob to wheel refinishing (and many other things), what do you guys suggest?
Other near plans I have for the car are to paint the lower opening of my front bumper the car color and to get stiffer springs. I'm not sure how much of a difference +2kg/mm will make, I believe right now my springs are 6kg/mm front and 7kg/mm rear, is it even worth it to change the springs that much or should I change my coilovers altogether?

i would paint the faces the same color as the car. as for the bumper, i wouldnt paint the black parts of the front bumper to color match the car. i personally think it would look tacky. i think you should just paint that middle raise line that goes from the turn signal to turn signal silver and leave the rest black, that should look nice.

I'm on the fence about color matching the wheels, I usually like contrast between the car color and wheel whether it be a lighter or darker wheel. It'll still be an option though. I actually like how it looks with the lower portion of the bumper painted, I've seen a few silver 6th gens with it and it looked better than having the smiley face look.

do the 6th gens have the same problem the 4th and 5th gens have with breaking the passanger axle after its lowered a certian point?

I wasn't aware that was a problem with Maximas, but now that you mention it my passenger axle is clicking so it seems possible, especially considering how high the front used to be. It's hard to tell though because it's aftermarket, the OEM didn't click but the boot tore so I had to replace it.

I decided to just leave the faces alone for now so I got some tires mounted. The center caps still need some love so I'm thinking of just polishing them so they at least match the lips, I saw some DH's on RavSpec that I think were lightning silver with machine silver center caps and am hoping for a similar outcome. I'm not satisfied with the fitment, but I at least see some potential. I'd like to add a bit more spacing and camber to the front wheels, as well as a bit more low, which will have to wait until I receive my Swift springs. The wheels are a little on the large side, but it's probably better for me since I don't want the car too low. Even though I'm not satisfied yet, I'm glad I picked these wheels up as they really change the look of the car. The polished grille in the first set of pictures is just on there to see how it went with the wheels, I'm thinking of using it for a project grille. Slowly but surely.

Thanks! There is only one lip available for my year Maxima made by Stillen, and I'd rather stay OEM than use that one. There are a couple bumpers but they're on the sporty side.

I also have a 3rd grille made by C(rap)-mod.
It's a pretty good design, but fits like sh!t. I'm hoping I can make some cuts and re-fiberglass to get it to fit properly. I think it'd be cool if I could incorporate billet in the center, similar to kingpin's Y34 grille.

There's an even number of bars, so there would be one black bar on top and a polished bar on the bottom. I tried it in photoshop and it looked cool but awkward. I also don't like the fit of this grille, there is a gap between the top and the hood. The E&G grille I have on right now fits a lot better than this Trenz grille.
So I got around to installing the Swift springs, also spent a little time dialing in my ride height. The rear is a little high, but I like how the wheel to fender gap is a little more even. Not too sure I'd like tire showing in front and not out back.

Thanks, I know this gen Maxima is the most despised (especially on the Maxima forums), so it's a huge compliment to see people who otherwise hate this model appreciate it. I wanted to show this car has potential, most 6th gen owners go with a "4DSC" or dub-style build, and I've tried to stray away from both as much as I can.

I'm not really sure, I still gotta finish up my suspension, got a Progress rear sway bar, Moog rear endlinks, Battle Version camber arms, and SPC rear toe bolts sitting here, and I still have to order Racingline front endlinks. I want to start on interior accents, but I have a cloth interior and I'm not sure how deep into this I want to go.

Thanks fellas, appreciate the compliments. Here's some pictures from a few months ago. My friend is lowered on Progress springs with 19's, just to kind of give an idea of the Maxima's ridiculous OEM wheel gap.

Thanks a lot, I've done a bit of research on my car to get my stance to this point. And yeah, I really do need to get those center caps on.
I started a thread about my interior but nobody really replied to it, hopefully I can get some opinions here. This is my current interior. (Supposed to be) Black cloth seats and matching door/dash inserts, grey above the doors.
What would you guys do? The three options I'm leaning towards are replacing all cloth with black leather/vinyl, replacing all cloth with grey leather/vinyl, or replacing the seats with two-tone black and grey with grey inserts. And MAYBE diamond stitched seat inserts, the door and dash inserts I think are too big for diamond stitching. Another option is to tint the "wood" trim to make it darker if that would help it flow more with the grey. I'm kind of leaning towards having some grey so I can leave the roof and pillars alone. Opinions will help me because I want to do something with the interior but I'm pretty indecisive lol.

Suede, and leather all day, i did my old altima made all the difference in the world. Your maxima is nice and as you said its different because it isnt ricey or a donk.

Concerning the interior, I'm thinking of just going with a simple black leather with black suede inserts. Simple with some texture. Yeah deadbolt's car looks pretty good, as did unfadeable's. I also thought about some piano black trim, but that can wait until after.

Still don't have time to work on the car so don't have much to update. I did manage to find parts from a Maxima with the Elite Package, so I had to jump at the opportunity. This is only an initial fitting, but it is what it will look like in the end. I still need to do the wiring for the front and rear seat heaters, front seat power, and rear sunshade, just waiting on some connectors. The leather is slightly discolored in some areas, so I'd still like to change the leather later on, but this will definitely do for the time being.

Nice pickup on the elite package seats. The biggest thing i missed bout mine was that package. That heated steering wheel was nice too!

I know it's weird they'd only have that option on this gen Maxima. It's fairly rare to find a Maxima with the Elite Package, especially one available for parts, but it seems even more rare to find one with the "wood grain" console. In fact, the entire package I bought came with brushed aluminum, but there happened to be another listing for only a wood grain console, so I just bought everything.

Thanks, it was one of those things I knew I just had to have. I hardly ever have more than 2 passengers, might as well get rid of a seat lol. I didn't get the steering wheel or the seat memory stuff, figured it was more wiring than I wanted to do, and it's probably not necessary in Cali.
