97-01 Q45 guys, have any of you guys changed the timing chain or guides?

Hey, I've been lurking for a while and finally found a Q. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. It has 150k and the timing chain an guide has not been changed. Was wondering if and when did you guys change yours? I was looking it up online and couldn't find at what mileage anybody change them at particularly for this model. Thanks :)

What would be indications that those are in need of replacements?

1st gen Q had plastic chain guides till like 95 or so, the Y33 has metal ones. I have never heard of anyone replacing them, but I'm sure it's been done.

I don't think the chain needs maintenance... maybe the tensioner and guide might need changing eventually. Other then that I think its suppose to be permanent.

these guys are correct. the chain guides are a 90-93 issue, no worries on the y33.

Thank you everybody for the feed back. I checked out the car today and it drove beautifully. The guy selling it had his daughter meet with me to check it out and test drive it. So, she'll be reporting back to her father then get back to me. Hopefully everything proceeds smoothly!

Burgy, it's owned by an older guy so maybe it's not broken in all the way yet ;) And thanks for wishing me luck. The daughter said she'll get back to me tonight to set a day to do the transaction this week.

Yes, it's the one from Huntington Beach, jdotlim. I spoke to them months before but the guy wouldn't budge when I was negotiating and he just blew me off. Then he took it off CL for like a month and then put it back up hahaha.
