What benefit comes from RCA/SS Kit?

So I read (but don't fully understand) that a roll center adjuster/SS Kit corrects suspension geometry for cars which are lowered. How would that exactly translate to what a driver feels in his daily use of the vehicle?

With my new air suspension having an adjustable, threaded perch along with air springs, my ability to control ride height is much greater. I'm wondering if my SS Kit is needed or desired now.

I guess I answered my own question after looking at these diagrams. Yes, it would be desirable to have a roll center adjuster.

yeah, if you look on CL it's a common issue of the LBJ failing.

pardon my french, but im sure driving like an asshole with the bags emptied, barely off the ground and having 35 degrees of negative camber doesnt have anything to do either with the ball joints going out lol. Im being a smart ass if you didnt notice. That does suck that the lower ball joints go out like that, I wouldnt wish that on anyone. :shrug:

i use it mainly so my bags "need" more air in them to get to the same height. gives me a more sporty handling car and less bottoming out

the real world benefit of roll center correction is cornering, particularly body roll. this is why you hear performance oriented people say overlowering will do more damage than good. lowering a car lowers the center of gravity, but it also alters the suspension geometry. as you can see in the diagrams, when extremely lowered, the control arms point upward and outward. they are designed to run parallel to the ground for the most part. the instant center is the intersection of the pivot points on the control arms. the roll center is calculated using the instant center, the centerline of the wheel, and the vertical center of the vehicle. changing the distance between the center of gravity and the roll center changes the body roll characteristics.

so in your application, william, it would go like this: you would set you ride height/psi relationship using the adjustments on the air rex setup. this will cause your uca and lca to point upward and outward. when you add the roll center adjuster the car will drop equal to the thickness of the rca. you then raise the adjustment on the air rex strut (equal to the thickness of the rca) back to your desired ride height. this will cause your lca to flatten out to some degree and raise your roll center.

understand that you will probably not get back to spec. most rca compensate for ~1-1.5", whereas we lower cars significantly more. something is better than nothing though.
