Buffing center face

So I got a set of rims awhile ago since i'm getting it relipped and nothing done to the face.  I was wondering if anything can go wrong if i buff the face with a portercable with ultimate compound?  The finish is diamond cut.

Any thoughts? Or would ultimate compound be too harsh for the finish?

I would clean them with a solvent first and then use hand polish to see how it goes.  I have seen some buffers tear through diamond cut.  I am assuming the centers are aluminum because of the d-cut huh?

I would assume so.  I took a buffer to it and its amazingly better same for the lips.  Use to be super dull and now its all shiny at least it saves me $100 from repolishing it at a shop. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

ulitmate compound is safe for paint so it is safe for the clear coat finish of your faces.

Well I doubt they're magnesium or steel....
