Wheel alignment with tucked rims

Hi guys.

got into this problem a year ago and still cant find a solution.
I´m on coils, front and rear cambered, rears tucking.
My steering is not perfectly straight and I can feel my rears are not good/straight (espessially in the rainy weather).
So I need to do an alignment. But here is a problem: rears are tucking and putting lasers is impossible......or not ??

I have done alignment this way: raised the rear till you can put lasers, do the alignment, lower the rear. But rears go off, and fronts a little bit.

I have talked to GubanGS, but I still cant figgur this sh%t out.

What I found is some pictures on minkara, where the lasers are vertically, but the attaching plate to the rim is horisontally. This is the only way I can see.

I know there are smart guys here that know much more than me,,,so please, HELP!!

exactly. i do that for people. because you have to do rolling compensation, u put the head sideways at an angle

thanks for the reply!! Now I can tell the alignment guy to twist the laser and its not what I thought of, but its how its done :biggthumpup:

I would have thought the alignment guy would have known to do this :shrug:

judging by the way those lasers mount ot the wheel ... it grips onto the out lip/rim of your wheels.   so yeah if youre tucking than the shop simply cant mount their hardware.   you can always try another shop, or bust a diy in your own garage like i do


i use a triple laser string setup when i align cars for myself and teh homies:

with this method i measure the distance from the lasers to the outer edge of the rim/lip of wheel ...

if you cant afford lasers, you can always substitute w/ simple strings and 2 jack stands:

OH and when you raise your car to align, and then lower it back down ... that WILL throw off your alignment settings.

not if it is high enough to get under car to adjust. Loosen stuff a bit first to make it easy, then tighten. Makes it easier when you have non eccentric bs.

im not fimilar to alighments so if anyone can clear it up. what do you mean " where the lasers are vertically, but the attaching plate to the rim is horisontally"

from the pic silo put and the ones he found i dont see much of a diff with the "big black box thing" looks to be in the same direction

i originally thought mounting the mirror sideways like that would skew the alignment results.  alot of new school technology/lasers/cameras/etc should be able to easily compensate for the angle and make for a spot on alignment.   

i stand corrected, looks like you CAN get aligned even if you tuck

lasers vertically, i think he meant how the camera/alignment machine bounces lasers towards the reflectors/mirrors attached to the wheels of hte customer.

heres another example ... notice how the mirrors/reflectors grip onto the wheels at the TOP and BOTTOM?   if the customers car tucks rim, all the alignment tech has to do is mount it sideways instead or at a 45 degree angle to avoid the fender

7 front and 12 rear camber, correct toe and straight steering wheel, what esle to want ?!!:biggthumpup:
