awesome. worst day 07 so far. :(

I work downtown and the parking garage is completely a 90 degree incline so I don't drive my benz. I take my gfs yellow mini cooper... go ahead... laugh.

well she drives my car while I'm @ work. she was picking up groceries on bellaire (chinatown... all viet/chinese communites) and got fkn rear ended by a old lady not paying attention in a toyota corolla. to add fuel to the fire:

1) wald kit is discontinued
2) they don't sell JUST the rear bumper... full kits only
3) I was doing the title transfer tomorrow to sell my car
4) I was about to buy a new car so I can finish my project

this fucking sucks. I already called the future new owner and told him the situation over vm. I'm sure insurance will cover it but ill have a great time explaining to them the rareity of the bumper (as if they'd care)

I'm just glad shes ok and the woman had insurance. there goes all my weekend car plans.

and to make it worse, I'm stuck at work and havnt seen it. plus my dads in the hospital having bad heart problems.

:(

That sucks man, hope your adjuster is open trying to get it back to it's previous glory. Also, I'm sure you have everything documented, but don't forget to bring the receipts!

Dude...this might be a great thing. If your agent is not a tool, explain to him that the car was to be sold for a certain price...hopefully you have some record of the future transaction. If the damage is too great, they may try to total the car...so either push the insurance company to pay the price the other person was going to pay, or bring them all of the reciepts, and have them pay for all of those parts as well.

Either way...I am really sorry to hear that. I hate having those days when things just keep going to shit. I hope your dad is going to be OK.

Great news about your father!

make sure you sue, i have a very good idea of how the majority of insurance companies settle lawsuits. What you need to do is talk to a lawyer who knows the exact cost of going to trial. Then ask the insurance company for a settlement that is between 10 percent to 15 percent lower. They will settle primarily to avoid the cost of litigation and the assumed risk of a judgment in your favor.

i went through a similar situation last year, albeit with a car that wasn't as "built" as yours.

given that the other party is at fault, your actually at an advantage. i assume you aren't going through your own insurance. if you are, stop, and file the claim through the other party's insurance. the reason that's generally an advantage is that your own insurance company only has to restore the car to the state it was when you applied for insurance, whereas the other company's responsibility is to take care of what their customer (the other party) is at fault for.

with that said, it will be hard to get the entire worth (at least what you think it's worth) for the car.

what you should do is stand your ground. i would think that $4500 is what your car is worth in stock condition (please correct me if i'm wrong). at this point, you need to take your receipts, photocopy them, and print up a document tallying up your receipts. what i did in my situation was to make sections like a mod list (interior, exterior, engine/exhaust, suspension/wheels, etc.) and have each part listed as well as what i paid for it, with the accompanying receipt.

it took about a month longer, but in the end i ended up with a check that was more than the initial offer and i was able to keep the car with all of the parts. the check wasn't as high as i wanted it for, but by being able to keep the car and thus sell the parts that were worth taking off, i was able to get what i wanted. i suppose i could have held out for longer and for a higher amount, but it came to a point where it was unreasonable and time consuming for me.

so, if you're using a rental car that's paid for by the other company, they'll hurry up with a better offer because they want to cut their losses (the continued rental) at some point.

hope it helps.
