My other, other, other project. Cressida drift car restoration
Just picked this car up last week. It needed oh so much work. I bought it for stupid cheap for much reason why. I got it from a buddy of mine who bought it from the original builder. The only thing my buddy did was paint it gray from the mary k pink it use to be.
The wiring was fubar, butt connectors everywhere!!! some werent even crimped down for the alternator extension. main wires were two small wires instead of one big wire. Wire hack job through and through. It wouldnt idle, it would over fuel and leak oil like no other.
The oil return line flanges were finger loose as well as the an fittings. The oil filter sandwhich plate had a ruined seal that was botched with RTV. Fuel line rubbing on steering rack. Bushings are beyond repair. you can move the rear wheel and the sub frame moves! There is a knocking noise coming from something on the front end, most likely bushings.
Well countless nights and a few hundred dollars later i got most of it done. the front wheels were some 17in chrome wheel and the bead wouldnt hold cause chrome chipping.. so i put my advans on it.
day i picked up
between wiring. that green wire was the original builders wiring.. still need to get rid of and locate battery to back. But this will be temp to sort out bugs.
in the middle of dry icing the sound deadening off.. but cant beat the steering wheel it came with!
Made my own light weight door panel using the stock upper door panel, and a lower foam poster board for lower. This will be done in something a bit better later.
and at my friends shop a while ago where i found out the 4th injector wire was undone. and just to think it had good power with 5 cyl and a t4 turbo lol

Nice platform! I have a weak spot for Cressida's...
had a 85 last yr but my girl couldn't stand being seen in it so I had to sell it before it had a chance to progress it to the level yours is at. Lovin that wheel btw

How easy is it to manual swap these? I'd love to have a 4 door, cheap, manual, rwd daily beater.

Thanks! Yeah i had an 87 as well. Its one of those cars that requires a lot of dedication and love. If you dont love it, dont buy it. I am not sure why a lot of people see it as a box 80s early 90s car and think its ugly. Compared to newer cars, well it kinda is.. but no reason to get rid of it! even if the mx7s are mint, they pull good money and look super pimp when slightly moded. Majority of people associate a car like that with low income cause it would be a car that you can "only" afford to own. And until i can easily get a jzx100, I am totally okay with my jzx81 style car. Its the closest we have here and I think they look hot when done up.
As far as manual swap, the previous model came with them as an option. I think you can just transfer it to the newer one. Seeing how this one looks to be that way.

Tell me about it.. that is what you get with a usdm motor.. a bunch of bull shit and a crossover pipe cause it was na. And yes, it will get sorted. Getting it running right is priority. Which means fix all oil leaks and smoother opperation. Then, pull wiring out and do all the custom stuff. All of it has been done to run right and fix. But I dont like doing custom off the bat to fix something. It is much harder to trace back if something went wrong.
as for the "240" not in my hands to finish on the fab side. Its like AGI's car, kinda.. well sorta..

One likes the mother and another the daughter... =)
X80's ain't ugly, but for me I prefer X20, X90 and X120 chassis', there's just something more special about 'em and they kinda reflect their building times better.

Well, I have a 110k good running mileage 1UZ laying around my house out of my wrecked LS...so swapping that into a Cressida or 240sx for cheap seem enticing.

got some more progress done :D Dont worry ya'll I didnt forget about the Qship. Just at a stand still with it. I would like to get this somewhat running well so I can go full bore with the Q. I really love driving the jag, but I hate putting a lot of miles on it for how much driving i do all week.
Routed all the engine bay wiring and fuse box underdash
this plug, and headlight wiring is the only thing that I need to extend now as the alt wiring and starter wiring was going to be extended already for battery in cabin
like the new look of the dash. Had to recover it all cause it was cracked and gray and bs. Painted it red behind dash so when i get rest removed I can go forth. in the rest of the inside red as well. Will make new door panels for front soon too.

Got new pulleys in I am not using the crank pulley as it is not a dampener pulley
The things that are awaiting its removal: Heater controls, head unit wiring, and factory radio controls, and automatic trans plugs
Shrinking down the harness. This pic shows i removed rear door electric lock, open door light button, rear speaker wiring, a few grounds, power antenna, and rear defrost and auto seat belt wiring
And decided to ditch the rest of the wiring stil maintaining a power rear roll down window.
Put it all in this stuff, (rear harness to front fuse block.)
With its front harness:
Even though it is all braided lines it will get tucked away in the rail after paint.

use techflex klean kut and it wont fray like that. floor boards came out great. never tried the dry ice but looks like it works very well.

Thanks for the advice! I got the spool from a friend who ordered it. So i figure i would use the rest on the smaller things. I will need the bigger size for the dash and engine harness. But yeah dry ice is awesome to remove that stuff.
