My UCF30 *Updated

First time posting pics of my car, because everyone has seen stock ones.

Added my rims, installed my coilovers and shaved the rear fenders. Still have to roll the fronts, and i'll drop it another 1-1.5". This is how my 14k/12k extreme low version BC coils came set up, I haven't touched the height adjustment yet.

Please excuse the iPhone pictures, i'll have real pics once I work out the front fenders and ride height.

loss of structural integrity. once you take the spot welds out the inner and outer are no longer connected. the 2 sheets of metal can become sperated for any number of reasons (fender work, accident, clearance issues, etc) and once that happens all you have is a thin piece of metal that will move wherever it is forced to moved. what it boils down to is you are doing permanent DAMAGE to your car in the name of aesthetics. to each their own, but a dumb decision imo. if you want to shave at least do it right and reconnect the panels. i imagine panels bond would do fine and not require a repaint, or you could weld it up and repaint or roll flat and repaint. me personally; i'd rather have 3 small dimples than sheet metal that isn't connected, apples to apples.

Thanks, I've been watching your build on here and CL.

No, all I did was install them and set the damping(8f/10r). If I remember right the preload is the thickness of one of the spanner wrench? I can set the preload while they're installed, yes?

The rates are something to get used to, they're not bad at all but I haven't driven a slammed car in 1.5yrs. I have yet to make the front upper control arm hit the wheel well, so hopefully I'm stiff enough to not really experience that daily like with my old IS.

Oh trust me I went back and forth on what to do. When I shaved the rears, I didn't shave them down smooth, I left roughly 8mm of fender lip thinking I could get the two panels welded without needing paintwork.

One thing that I ran into was with the front rims, not clearing the calipers. Everything I've read about Maya/Trafficstar wheels is that the standard disk fronts are really a high disk. I would've needed at least 7mm to clear.

It's not really a big deal but I was wanting the relip the mayas, which I probably won't do now.

i would opt for the panel bond adhesive. it's stronger than a weld and will not require refinishing. simply run a bead bewteen the 2 panels and clamp 'em together. once the epoxy sets it will be stuck for good.

Thanks guys, and no these aren't kareems old DTS', he had more aggressive offsets.

Getting the front fenders rolled in about five hours, so new ride height and pictures to follow.

Dialed in the ride height.

Things will be changing slightly very soon, I'll be doing my exhaust something similar to the fireball megas. Already have the stainless magnaflows and 4.5" tips, just need to get them welded up and hung.

I also just picked up a second set of DTS's that were on a Mercedes, plans are to move my current rear 10's to the front and use these new 10.5" barrels for my rears. Only issue is I'm not sure what to do refinishing wise, my current set are chrome face/polished lip and the new set is chrome face and lip. I'm tossing around these ideas, chrome faces and lips, brushed faces and chrome lips, or body color paint matched faces and chrome lips.

I'm also itchy to do blue or green tint, but i'm not sure how well that will work here in AZ. I've always had 5% all around for my cars.

They're definitely liveable, miles stiffer than stock but still smooth and non-jarring. I think most ride quality issues will depend on the condition of your local roads. We have it pretty good out here in AZ, I would probably go to a 16k/14k and 40mm shorter units(instead of the 20mm shorter I have) if I were to do it again.
