Air suspension ride quality?
hey guys,
I'm new to the vip scene and i currently am starting a project car with my LS430 and i was having a dilelma about going with air suspension or the comfort type coilovers. I have been hearing bad and good things about the air suspension one of them being that the ride quality gets crappier with it. i dont know who to believe and i figure this is the best place to turn. Thanks in advance guys!
(summary if its too long lol)
-air suspension makes ride quality good or bad?
-air suspension or regular comfort coilovers
thanks again!

if you got no shocks on an air ride suspension, its crappy.

I'm also interested to know the answer to this, but I'm guessing everything depends on the setup and pressures you ride with.
I'd love to see videos of people with airsus riding over different roads/driveways etc so i can see how the suspension responds. I always see pics of people slammed, but i want to see the real-life day-to-day driving situations!!
Unfortunately the only airsuspensioned cars i have seen locally are the $1500 Airbagit.com kits, which i suspect are not set up for practicality (or safety)...

I am not a personal fan of airbagit.com . The ride quality is something to get used to for my setup. I have a 1994 Toyota Previa with Air Runner suspension (the fronts are bolt-on airstruts and the rears are welded bags with adjustable dampening shocks). It can be bouncy at a certain height but nothing big. Other than that, it rides pretty smooth. Where are you from?

Buy airunner, cheapest "out of the box" air suspension that will provide good ride quality. Keep in mind it will be harder to clear obstacles with coilovers rather then air.

do you have the UL (ultra luxury) edition? meaning stock air suspension? if so, PM robert, and buy a data systems air ride controller (or equivalent) and call it a day.

To add to the air suspesion disscussion:
When going from stock, is it wise to upgrade swaybars bushings, LCA's etc when going to air?
also, kyb shocks + universal slipons decent setup?
thanks for all the info...

if you get the adjustable kyb shocks, you got an airrunner setup right there.

I think asking someone's opinion on how the ride quality on an air suspension system is like asking someone how spicy is the food, everyone will have a different opinion. I have built a few systems (most with Universal Air Suspension bags) and everyone seems to like the ride. I guess if I have to compare it to another suspension, I would have to say it feels like Eibach Pro Kit springs on Tokico springs.
