Steering wheel and Gas Pedal vibration

Hello Everybody,
 I just got my wheel back from being fixed (Resurfaced face from curb marks) and I took it out for a test drive and noticed some vibrations from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I mean it really feels like i am having a flat tire or something. I'm thinking that my car might need a wheel alignment or maybe its my brakes. Anyway Im going to take my car to get aligned and see what happens from there. Have any of you ever experienced this?

Check to make sure the wheel is balanced, you may have dropped a weight or lost one when the wheel was getting refinished.

It happened to me afta I bent my left rim from a pothole. At slow speeds I couldn't feel anything but when I'd go 50+ I would get mean vibrations thru da steering wheel. Hopefully the guys at da shop neva tweaked your rims, but if they're bent you'll have to get them machined back to normal. Lose money! Hopefully it's jus a weight that came off the rim, that's an easy fix.

sometimes over tightening of the wheels can cause brake vibration. just another thing you could check.

things to check:

-brakes (only if it happens when you press the brakes)
-wheel weights
-lug nuts (make sure they are not over tightened or too loose... about 80ft/lbs should be good)
-make sure the wheel is true (in other words make sure it is perfectly round)

turns out to be worn out bushings and tie/strut rods, that were causing the vibrations according to the shop. Total cost $600 dollars to fix.

are you positive thats it? hopefully they are not pulling a fast one on you.

i say go to another shop and have them balance the wheels.

I think they may have loosened a bolt or two to get you to come back.

Tires can cause abnormal vibrations.

Irony: I have a 1991 4runner (daily driver) and had some old tires on it ( bought the truck from original owner last year, it sat for 2 years). They were NEW tires, less than 2000 miles, but they sat for a long time.

The truck started to have an awful lot of vibration through the steering and throughout the chassis. I could not pin point any old warn bushings or tie rod ends or ball joints. Everything was "tight" as it should be.


I just put on new BFGoodrich tires today at the Toyota dealership and had a total alignment.

Vibration is gone. Completley gone. The truck rides as smooth as any new car.

Take your car to a different shop. Have them put the tires/wheels on the balancers and check for unbalanced wheels/tires. Just that alone shold not cost more that $40. We are already saving you $560 as it stands  :)

I really doubt its warn out tie rod ends. They usually do not wear fast. And the usual complaint of warn tie rod end ball joints is steering PLAY. Not really bad Vibrations through the whole chassis. 

I really think as the other said, they are pulling a "fast one" on you.

Yeah. Make sure that they are not ripping you off. Check other places and do your homework. One time my dad went to a shop they said his suspension setup was "not Right" and said it wasn't functiong properly went we felt nothing wrong and had it for 2+ years with no problems. my suggestion is Do your Homework, research and ask People on the forums.
