How many of you guys want custom LED work service for an affordable price?
Hey guys, I know I never posted a thread on here except for for sale threads but I have a lot of interaction as well as ratings in other forums such as: Zilvia, rs25, and club4ag, but really I wanted to ask you guys a question: How many of you guys want a custom LED work service for an affordable price? Well anyways, I had some questions before we come to any conclusion. The only way really to get good quality Led anything is to either take it to a reputable shop who charges a lot or do it yourself at home, correct? Well what if I told you, my uncle is a led light researcher and he has a masters in science in that field and he researches, designs and builds led lighting structures for a lot of college campuses around California and he and I (I being the designer type/artistic) thought of an idea to make custom led lighting for cars. Such as taillights with functional everything (brake light, turn signal, and reverse), third brake lights, fogs, headlight add-ons, bumper add-ons, custom turn signals, and etc. We would be able to make something like brokeys Y33 but better, because we have wholesale to almost every type of led's in the world. Would you guys want this service? what's an affordable price? I was thinking around 400-600 shipped for taillights but you guys have to tell us your idea on how you want it and send us your taillights or fog casings and etc so that we can make a direct fit and with 1-3 week turn around? I really don't know what you guys want, so an input would be nice, first off, I will be testing it out on my Y33 and I'll update this thread with pics and video. Let me know what you guys think!:runcoold:

Do you have any samples I his work? Gonna need some sort of referral. Everyone in the car scene right wants custom LED work. Let us know because if you're for real you'll have orders right away.
It would be cool to see some animated turn signals worked in to a set of tails.

We will be making a sample in a few days to a week. Since I have 2000 q45 1 piece taillights I'm going to making a similar setup to what 33flavors posted on his build thread (black car with benz parts) and I will add led's to the reverse square sections also and maybe animated turn signals, I need some info on what people want, so he can study it. He wants to know how intense of lighting people want, like how bright. I know 33flavors, I only have one post lol.... :pat: but just know that I have been on other forums for a long time. Referrals will be based on his credentials, his newspaper article, magazine article, awards and his contracts if you guys want lol. Send me some samples of lighting you'd like to see to my pm, or on this thread. Post up what you guys would like so he can get right to work and make prototypes. Let's get this thread going!
What would really help speed up the process:
level of intensity you guys want (brightness)
colors?
any examples
sizes of leds
I'm going to be doing something like this to my tails if I add some animation: (Adding animations will probably be more expensive obviously)

Everyone wants them to be bright enough to be legal but not too bright as to draw unwanted police attention.
This is a sample of what the minimum I personally would be looking for:

I'd like to see this done...and I'm interested for sure. I remember the problem with Brokey's taillights was it were too bright.

Hey Bossmaxima, most definitely we'll be building something like the Audi running lights for my y33 soon also as an example. My main primary focus right now is the taillights first. After we get a completed product and get sales in we'll start developing more and more products.
Okay so you guys want brightness of lights that are close to stock correct? He can make different kind of led panels that put out different power levels. I will have the led's based off of stock brightness or just one more level brighter then if everybody agrees to that.

Hey sorry about that 33flavors, I honestly didn't know that was your making on those taillights. I will not be copying those. Sorry for any disrespect in any way :). To clear things up, he meant the black car he had in his thread that he posted up. I'm guessing that it was his design.
I will be designing my own style of taillights and making them. Thanks for the interests everyone, I will try to work quickly as possible so I can get to the productions.

Hey guys! As and update, there's going to be a slight delay on the first production model since we are designing and figuring out what the best way to put led's in the taillights and etc. So I will update once it's completed! Thanks for being patient.

Wow nice setup, it's a little too much though in my opinion, like too much going on haha, but whatever floats your boat!

Got all our supplies in, we are scheduled to build my setup this Saturday. I will post pics and video once completed! Remember peoples, this isn't just for Y33's it's for all chassis. We'll be able to make lighting for all vehicles. Post some designs you would like.

I'm over here right now discussing and building led base we will use for the taillights. i took pictures of his work and i'm getting a long physics lesson on lights lol.
Here's pics of what we were doing today: He showed me some of the samples of led setups he built that we can use to build running lights and fogs, some fixtures he made, and etc. My taillights will have to wait.
Lesson on building led setups:

take it from someone who has done leds for this market from short production runs to one offs; if you use the right methods, materials, and time to get it perfect there is a very, very, very small market that will pay for the service at a price that makes it worthwhile.
Honestly, I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but my need for money as I was in situations where I was almost homeless since I was 17 and all my hardships, I decided to try to something with my life. Not by selling drugs and etc but by doing something I will enjoy and would like to learn. But, I can tell you I can disassemble engines and rebuild them, I can repair mostly everything on an engine, so disassembling a taillight wouldn't be hard. By the way, that was just the pricing off of my head. I will price accordingly to what kind of work people want, but won't over charge like a lot of people out there. I don't need to hear from some vendor that I don't know this and I don't know that because that's not your place. He builds production level led setups already, and he knows what the cost is and etc. We're not using pcbs, I was just posting some examples of things he built and had people manufacture it for him. In those drawings, he was just teaching me how leds work because I had so many questions that were off topic. I'm just showing people what he's capable of doing. We are going to be using basic led diodes made by Nishia (who are based off in Japan) to make these led setups, but our goal is to have them last longer by using the right power level and etc. I will make sure I can provide everyone in the "small market" with very good led light setups and at a great price that they can all enjoy. Thank you for the advice though, now let me get on with finishing my goals.

why such a small portfolio over the course of years? because i'm a professional who has invested time and money in research, tools, materials, and marketing. i have actual overhead, an actual value on my time, and an actual skill. it wouldn't make sense for me to give these things away, but i guess you can promise anything when you posses nothing. when (if) you catch up you'll understand my tone. hopefully it's before you put some dim, under heatsinked, narrow viewing angle leds in someone's tail lights and cost them a car.
That's awesome. Great for you, but honestly these pictures don't mean anything to me. I respect the fact that you've completed some projects. Like I said, I'm not the one whose building these setups, a "professional" with a Masters degree and many contracts from his past is helping me. Thanks for the indirect mock. I've been playing with LED Lighting for around a year (no where near as long as your dad? or OG) and can tell you this, there is NO WAY i would ever sell anything i have produced without extensively testing and testing and testing and testing the product (3-6 months continious use) you are offering to modify and design tail light setups but stop and think for a minute, your messing with the MOST IMPORTANT lighting on a car, people now a days dont pay attention to the flow of traffic they pay attention to the red lights in front of them and little else, i can say with 100% certainty that your attitude towards OG (a senior member of VSC) will not help you gain business with members of this forum, and while i understand your good intentions, how long have you really been in the car scene, we have had (over tons of platforms) people who show up, show promising work, do a couple sets of headlights/ tails/ fogs ect, get a ton of orders and then disappear for ever. Before offering a set for 4-600 i would say produce yours, use them, test them, throw up a build thread (and accept positive critisism) and after they have been running for a couple months without fail, pay your dues become a VENDOR and list them for sale. You produce a good product at a reasonable price and you will have people lined up to buy them, but the key is a proven product.
anyways enough ranting, OG your light work looks amazing, New guy you certainly have the potential but please remember this isn't a forum of 16/year olds with Honda's this is a club made up of OG's turned businessmen ;)

I am with the new guy on this
By all means, he hasn't even started yet and we have naysayers. What are you afraid of, competition? Afraid of someone doing something you have tried a hand in (and/or failed at) better than you?
I know everyone has advice they want to give to people getting into the biz , but if your advice is un-welcomed, Keep it moving.
Let a man hustle and try a hand in it.
Besides, If he is successful, it will boil down to demand which will dictate the price of the products he is offering.
