y33 performance upgrades

Are there any upgrades available for the 4.1 that are worth doing. i know nico has an ecu for the 4.5 and i wasnt sure if anyone has done anything on the 4.1

this only thing they make worth while for the 4.1 is a motor swap.

The z32 n/a or turbo rear diff assembly is a direct drop in swap. the pros, improved low end acceleration and torque. With a small gain in gas mileage. Cons: the damn thing weighs 220 pounds! you need a transmission jack or a amateur wrestler to hold it in place while fastening it in place.

true. jim wolf intake is the same exact cone filter that spectre makes. I was pissed when i compared them. only thing were paying for is the name.

The ecu on the 4.5 i believe is a 8 or 16 bit ecu; which makes itself open for mods. the 4.1 is a 32bit ecu! it can definitely handle boost (or anything thrown at it) as long as the fuel injectors are bumped up a notch... unfortunately it is not obdII eeprom, so it cannot be tuned :( sucks for us. only way to make it tunable is to change the obd2 port to a traditional one. im currently breaking apart a spare ecu to learn the pinouts. IF THE GTR ECU WAS HACKABLE, WE CAN DAMN SURE HACK THIS ONE TOO.

Why not use a safc 2 or greddy piggie back to fool maf and tweak air/fuel. Maybe up the psi on injectors too

safc, not really needed. greddy piggy back, not needed either. Maf is exactly the same as z32. the stock ecu can automatically adjust to it... add some nismo 555's (cheaper than sard) and fine tune the timing. by changing out the injectors to higher flow rate + messing with the timing the ecu will be fine... safc would still be good for monitoring tho!

another thing to consider too is the NATS/IMMOBILIZER thats built into the ecu. its encoded, so almost anything will not be plug and play/readable from the ecu. It is a very advanced ecu thats was waaaaaaay ahead of its time

thanks for all the ideas, for starters ill deffinantly look into the intake and the rear diff and go from there
