Need some help with my Y33 PLEASE

So my 33 has been pissing me off lately. The power steering seems to hate me. A couple months ago the system bubbled out at the reservoir so I figured the rack was shot so I replaced that. It was fixed although it wasn't factory perfect and I could hear/feel that the pump was weak and slowly going out. So I replaced the pump and it was fixed again, sort of. That lasted a month or so until it started getting shitty and then it bubbled up again and the power steering is absolutely gone. So now I am completely stuck as to what could be wrong. I never saw any leaks other than from the top of the reservoir and it's hard to tell now as there's fluid all over the place from me trying to flush the system. Maybe the pressure hose is leaking or clogged? Any ideas?

Thanks a ton guys. It's my daily and I don't want to damage it drivin without PS too much and nobody seems to know exactly what's up. Ive read alllll the y33 PS threads since the first time it stopped working but I've tried pretty much everything.

Pics of said Q for helping :

friend of mine has one with a leaking pressure hose....i'd clean it up and check out all the hoses real good....esp if you replaced the rack and pump

Yeah probably the only thing I can do. Would a leaking pressure hose cause the system to COMPLETELY not work though? I figured it'd hold a little pressure in there but I guess once air is in there it's done

Does everyone use Dexron ATF in the PS?

yeah, if its a leak on the pressure side it will run low enough for the system to not have any power in a short period of time. my boy said his ran low and started makin noise like 2 days after i topped it off. and yeah, regular dexron atf will do the job.

It doesn't run low on fluid until it leaks out of the top of the reservoir though. And it doesnt even do that anymore for some reason.

I just put new fluid in the other day, cranked the wheel back and fourth to try and purge the air out and absolutely ZERO power steering.

Checked the level today and it was still at a normal level and still no power steering. Could that really still be only the pressure hose? or maybe I burnt out my new pump already ?

i'm pretty bad at mechanics, but it sounds to me like there is a restriction somewhere causing the system to back up when the pump is on. i forget if it was the ls or q that had the screen filter on the rack that was an issue (different generation either way but maybe get you going in the right direction).

Literally since the first time my ps started messing up, i kept thinking that something was just clogged too haha but I couldnt find anything. I think Ill replace the pressure hose and see if that's the problem and check for leaks and clogs while I do that. But Ive heard of the pressure hoses fraying and clogging on the inside so hopefully that's it

the y33 is terrible at bleeding the air out of the p/s system.....it is overflowing cuz its got air pockets inside. you gotta spin the wheel back and forth tons of times with the front end elevated to purge all the air out of the system. then start it up and do the same and hope it doesnt bubble back out once you shut the engine off.

i know some benz models make noise and such due to a screen in the reservoir....but we talkin infinitis here lol.

The PS worked fine and then stopped working when I never touched it so that cant be the issue at hand. air had to get in there somewhere and Im guessing through the pressure hose even though I cant really tell.

NOW though, I just tried what you said again and I cant even hear the pump anymore. It's not doing anything. Zero noises coming from the bay when I turn the wheels. just straight up manual steering. apparently I already fried this pump somehow

dam, not sure how far along you've gotten with this, however my car is in similar shape, However I tried the method mentioned above, with my front end elevated and turning the steering wheel, while adding bar seal leak into the reservoir until the air bubbles were out, now the pump is lubricated along with the rack, however my high pressure hose is the culprit, because upon looking underneath the car, the fluid was mostly on the ground.

This was after De-greasing the the bottom of the p/s reservoir, along with the lines and the pump. I have to buy the hose now, as a matter of fact
part no. 49720-6p100 from infiniti parts usa.

hopefully you have resolved this matter

yep. i ended up replacin that pressure hose on my friends car and fixed his leak. but sounds like you fried your pump. you can take the hose off and get it redone at a hydraulic hose supply store. and get another pump :\

I knew it. Been too broke to order one though. Ive been topping it off and bleeding it like every 2 weeks when the ps starts to get weak lol.. It works perfect for about a week or 2 after I bleed it and then it starts getting bubbles in the system and loses power. It seems that my pump is still fine.. for now

the hydraulic shop I went too apparently sucks, cuz they were adament that they couldn't imitate the bends in the stock line. My thinking was then which company does infiniti use to bend the lines...smh....Either way, I replaced the high pressure hose, and had the line crimped onto metal line. 70 bucks,,,a little elblow grease, no leaks
