new!!! Modular Wheels

hey guys wat do you think?  VIP Modular 3pc wheels.  on this setup 20x9.0 and 20x10.5 im running 225-35-20 and 255-35-20 stretch. I got a 2.5" lip front and 3.5" rear on "Plantinum Black Pearl" and a serious sound system, Diamond audio component and IDQ 12". coming soon body kits and Plantinum Emblems.

flat black wheels aren't vip...they would look better if they weren't so dub looking. black/polished combo's aren't good on silver cars, better looking on black cars. those wheel's would look better if they were aluminum brushed or polished out.

I agree, but depending on which kit you choose, it'll make them blend better...

i think the flat black looks hot!  very classy choice!  does not look dub-esque at all!

Nice wheels. Everyone is talking about "VIP" wheels. :mad: Someone please tell me what are "VIP Wheels" ? This comes up all the time.

Personally i am not a fan of the flat black/black-chrome lip combo. Sure its different, but far too understated for my liking.

Perhaps the 'dub' comment came because the most striking feature of that wheel appears to be the pierce bolts (? - the ones holding the 3 pieces together). IMO it makes it look like they are saying "look at me, i'm a 3 piece wheel, loook!!", yet the colour combo says "dont look at me, nothing to see here" :p

Sounds kinda hypocrytical coming from a fellow black-faced wheel owner, but i like the fact that the lips contrast so sharply to the face on my wheels...

Anyway, good on you for trying something different, and dont take my comments to heart... I'm all the way over in Australia so what does it matter what i think?

To me, your wheels remind me of all the DUB cars, the 'gangsta' cars that buy black rims with polished lips. flat black, to me, looks like it should be on a honda. your wheels take away too much from the car. it's silver, a lighter color, and your wheels are black. it draws attention immediately to the wheels, and then turns around and removes detail from the wheels, all at the same time. don't worry about what i say, what do i know, i'm the only one who doesn't like them right? and yes, VIP IS all about taste, and those wheels don't fit my taste.

Those rims are FIRE!!!! I am a huge fan of flat black in general. I do agree w/some that on a silver car may not be the best combo, I give you props for go against the norm. Next step is to definitly to move onto a bodykit to really set it off. If I were you, you may want to consider once the kit is installed, to paint the car satin black to match the wheels. Bump for a hot ride!!!!!!!:cool:

not a true fan of flat black wheels on a vip car but for some reason I cant stop looking at your car, it looks really good on a silver car. Its different but it looks good.

IMO, wheels are suppose to blend in and not be the main attraction of the car. Simple but aggressive is usually the theme for almost all VIP styled cars that I've seen, but I guess everyone is entitled to make their own style.

Just out of curiousity, what are the offsets on those wheels?

I like the idea of flat black but I don't like the design of the face..
That rolling shot is my favourite, but the static shots I don't like

"We"? who are you? WE all think that it's pretty DUB, and ugly. DUB is not VIP, even though america thinks VIP is "baller" hence, people think DUB is VIP. WAY DIFFERENT, and vip is WAY cooler, and WAY more expensive than shitty dub style.

he asked what we thought, and the 'educated' people chimed in. he didn't like what we said, and he left. if he doesn't like it, he could just take waht we say with a grain of salt, not delete his post and leave. 
  there are certain unwritten (and some written) guidlines to follow with how to style the car. rims are the number one thing after suspension,this all ties into the main aspect of VIPstyle, which is STANCE. 
  Stance is what VIP is all about. low, wide, cambered, stretched, etc. this car didnt cut it. the rims didnt cut it. you can't get what vipstyle achieves with rim companies that dont give custom offsets. you can't just slap on a wheel that 'seems' vip, just because it's 20" and has a polished lip. 
  All in all, some cars don't make the cut. With a couple of changes, like changing that primered look out to a polished/brushed aluminum look, and lowering the car a bit, it would be fine.

Dub and Vip may be intertwined but they are NOT the same.

I said it on the clublexus forum and ill say it here that these wheels look good in design but the flat black does not go well with the vip look. Thats just what i think. The wheels itself actually stand out too much on that silver car and it doesnt look quite right. The 20s are too large imo and wont let you go lower. It will still sit pretty high.

Imo you got the offset correct but if they were, polished i think it would help.

If you like them then dont worry about negative posts against your wheels. You posted on a public forum. Dont come thinking everyone will love them.

before this gets out of hand, I would like to chime in on this.  If people want to prosecute me for what I am about to say as the founder of this site, and someone who has followed this VIP thing from the get-go, please do.

Anyways, IMHO, I think the DUB culture of tuning is the best thing going for us.  Ok, so they may be into the bling of it all, but at the same time, our biggest demographic for helping the VIP scene grow will come from there.  Yea, you can call it "selling out"  but it isn't selling out when you are educating them and sharing the knowledge we have rather than saying, you are crap, I am better, my way or the highway buddy.  This isn't what I wanted when VIPStyleCars.com was founded.  I wanted a place for us to go to discuss fitments, brands, styles, and what not.  VIP Style is what you make of it.  Some people will be purists and want it to be platform only.  Some people will want to bring in a car that doesn't belong and call it VIP.  

of course, this is a matter of opinion when it comes to what wheels look good and what does not.  I for one am about seeing more american companies attempt at entering the VIP scene.  I would love to see it grow for the sake of car customization.  I am personally tired of watching people go back and forth over what they think is the best.  We should take everything with a grain and salt and not take things so personally.  We have purists and we have the curious.  We should help each other out, you never know what someone can bring to the table.

as for 20s not being VIP, I guess I myself am not VIP then based on that definition. I am on 20s, not my best choice, but I do like it. However, if someone says well then your car isn't VIP then, so be it.  I am not upset about it, and I will not take that opportunity to go off and bash about it. This car was built for me and for what I was into.  Thats what I think VIP enthusiasts should think about sometimes. Its not about trying to fit in, or impress anyone.  We need to do this for ourselves.

the wheels themselves seem to be knock offs of Auto Couture Magnifiques anyway.  Also the fitment of the wheels in conjunction with the ride height do not lend themselves to the appearance of VIP style.  

Also why do we want to take VIP mainstream so badly?  Do we really need the DUB scene and is participants to embrace VIP style for it to be successful? And if by successful you mean commercialy viable, then thats a bad indicator of success in my opinion.  Success to me is educating others about the style while keeping it pure.  Also wheel fitment and choice with ride height are the last standards of VIP. If we are not hardcore about what we accept.  Why even call what we do VIP anymore, if we let "VIP modular wheels" off the hook.  Just rename this website vip influenced cars with strong dub tendencies.com and get it over with.

I never said anything about mainstream.  What I stated was that the DUB demographic is the best place we can share our knowledge with. Like I said, I am sorry if my thoughts touched a few of you in the wrong places.  I am just saying, instead of personally or verbally attacking someone who doesn't have all the VIP aspects in place, we should educate them in a respectable manner.  We have a lot of great members and potential members for this site. I would love to see everyone get along and teach each other instead of finding ways to bash and disrespect one another.

Commenting on the 20s issues, wheel size should be determined by your taste and how it goes with the car itself.

No nerve touched lol, sorry to put the word mainstream in your mouth.  But to me the mentality that goes along with DUB style is synonymous with mainstream tuning.  The large wheels and done syndrome.  I am all for education and I agree we could be more civil.  But from what I have seen it is the newbie’s that start these flame wars by declaring their cars VIP or not taking constructive criticism well.  Also I think that some people don’t care to learn about the style and just want to declare what they are doing VIP to ride the wave of what they see as the new hot trend.  Most purists such as myself view platform to be of paramount importance, then wheel choice / fitment then drop etc.

I strongly agree with that.

THe wheels look like knock off auto coutures but I dont have any beef with that since most wheels are a knock off of something else.  I just dont like the finish, the rivets and the centercap.  The design of the wheel is nice though.  I say either have them painted or machined or paint the car black Cool - (suteki)

i have to agree partially- a large part of the original concept of v.i.p. was about keeping it exclusive and pure. not to be changed/altered by some random enthusiast to fit their personal needs. if you really want to "make the cut" in v.i.p. you HAVE to follow the guide-lines that were pre-stated/established... im sure we're all familiar w/ the phrase "there is no cutting corners in v.i.p."; and to do something different and call it v.i.p. is kinda disrespectful. the concept of taking someones image that they took time to work on and put mind, energy, passion, and effort towards just to have someone random take it on a whim, half-ass it, and call it their own is just dirty and once again; disrespectful.  let me buy similar tennis shoes you own, and a similar t-shirt you own, then turn around and say "look!!! i'm you!!!! we're so the same, man!!!" if you want to be on my level- you have to work for it, not step on it.

Not really feeling the way the color of the rim flows with the color of your vehicle. I don't think flat black with chrome goes well but if the rest of your vehicle was flat black, that'd be fuckin' sick.

And imo the silver will doesnt match it.  you will have to do the big Rob style and Go Gangsta Mob black.

i like the wheels alot, just not the fact that they are flat black, or black at all to be honest.

the wheel design is nice but the color doesn't fit with your car. they don't sem like they belong on your car. If you were to go with a polished or chrome set of the same wheel it would look much better imo. the rolling shot did look pretty sick tho.

the wheels are fine, it's just that the car, the  color scheme and the wheel style doesn't really flow together. The color scheme  looks like something that belongs on a bentley. The GS aristo is now a more, old school body style that matches best to traditional wheel design and color scheme.

Half of you sit around with a mazda or a honda or nissan in the garage talking "VIP this" and "VIP that" when you DON'T live the VIP lifestyle and DON'T drive VIP cars then nitpick peoples builds when they are actually DOING something. I love how VIP style is about individuality but here in america its follow the leader. If you want to be unique and VIP then you have to do everything exactly like everyone else does. Thats what I was hoping cause I thought it was whack as hell the way people were acting about it.

Honestly..I am dumbfounded by how naive some people are about vip in the US.  They seem to think they have a grasp on it when really they don't.  That's the main problem.  His wheels under current definitions "could" be vip depending on how the rest of the car takes form..in it's current color combination no..and with no body mods...no.  There is a style some of us call GT vip which encompasses some of the old school "race" flare and molds it in with current vip trends.  However, in the car's current state it's just not working and yes, the car could use going at least an inch lower..minimum and be possibly black or a bright color to pull the look, the silver is too bland.  Also, why get stretched tires if you don't need them?  It's not just for the "look", we do it with purpose for clearance/fitment.  Otherwise it just looks silly that way.  Fronts look like they could use a bit of a spacer...and if you do go lower, you'll need them in the rear too.  Remember this is just constructive criticism.  Right now it just seems like there's no direction with what you plan to accomplish...what do you plan to accomplish??  Maybe something like this?:

But the difference is that, Big Steves ride flows really nice with those rims. The silver with the flat black is not really flowing together.
