Nissan Maintenance Parts

HEy Folks, Its been a while. Just wanted to re-introduce myself. Used to go under the screen name Ricky Cash Now I'm 00Scotty or (Double 0 Scotty=)). My real name btw.

Anyways I Just bought a 97 Q45. (used to own a 94 G50, there's a thread with my failed attempt to VIP)

The Y33 has 169k on the clock, is in need of a major tune. Also Has a moderate amount of paint defects, and a cracked windshield. Im more concerned with the windshield and tune up first, as I will be having my kid in the car with me from time to time. But this thread is about maintenance.
I've done a bit of research to mainly stumble upon this, Nissan was very generous or lazy (works in our interest anyways) when it came to certain things such as suspension, and I think Vipstylecars family has really shed the light on this end.

But now it comes down to how well our cars run.

Knock Sensors(Part Number:22060-03p00)
The few things I have found is that our knock sensors are interchangeable with 240sx knock sensors, so say good bye to the days heading to the dealer and filing for a second mortgage.

Ignition coils (part number 224486P000) can be used through aftermarket retailers such as
http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,carcode,1172821,parttype,7060,d,1997_INFINITI_Q45_4.1L_4130cc_V8_MFI_B_VH41DE_DOHC_Ignition_Coil.html
for 1/4 of the price.

I will be using 300zx fuel filters instead of the q45's on mine.

could 02 sensors also be interchangeable?

I don't think of myself as going the cheap route, but my experience with the parts that I found to work on the G50 has lead me save a fraction of what it would normally cost to maintain these saloons, and also wonder about the one I just purchase.

I doubt that is everything that is interchangeable on these cars, Has anyone else found anything on this. Because with all the knowledge that is being hatched on the 4.5, it appears that the 4.1 has been tossed to the side a little.

Oh and here is the new thing

I dont know if I'm just lucky or what lets hope i dont jinx myself, however, I was doing my tune up on the car, minus the o2 sensors, and after replacing all my spark plugs, the hesitation seems to have completely disapperaed.

as you know any hesitation or slight knocking and that indicates the knock sensors, but i guess i dont have to go down the route yet. I will let you know about the 02 sensors. I may do them before or after i choose to replace my cats.

also VI IX i seen the prices of 02 sensors range from 55 to 90 bucks at advance auto parts. and you need four of them, one for downstream and one for upstream.

if there's 2 cats, then 1 upstream and 1 downstream for each cat. 4 sensors.

The n/a and TT versions versions work. just make sure they are 1996 only.they need to be side feed injectors.

if your'e pretty good at wiring, you can get by with using maxima 02 sensors. connectors may be different, so cutting and soldering will be involved. hit up advance or any auto parts store and compare both of them... you'd be surprised at how most parts are interchangeable
