GUN Owners: Opinions needed

Hey bros and bro-ettes.

Im going to the gun show either today or tomorrow, and i know they have pretty nice prices on firearms out there, however, Im stuck, on whether i should purchase a ruger SR9C, or SR40C or just suck it up and buy a glock 19/23. 
Either gun will be for CCW purposes, so im leaning more on the Ruger slim line design and the mag capacity. However Glocks are pretty dam sexy, in a way most people dont understand LOL.

However, even if the price is worth the stainless steel, the RUGER can be had for 400.

Please give me your opinions.

check out s&w shield 40, shield 9mm, or bodygaurd 38s also.

just in my experience i'm a bigger guy and it was hard for me to conceal my 19.

Guns are all subjective and a matter of personal opinion, so take that first.   I've handled a lot of Ruger semi-auto pistols and just never gotten a great feel from them.  I can't really quantify it, I just never have been impressed or wowed by the fit/finish/feel.   The M&P shield is a nice gun, but I frankly would look at some other options that Ive liked better.   

Here is what I would recommend checking out:

Springfield XD sub-compact 3"   -  Small, easy to carry, and you can get in 9 or 40.

Springfield XD Compact 4" - Little bigger if you have large hands, but decently able to be concealed.  Comes in 45 (which I am partial to)

Beretta Nano - Tiny little 9 so super easy to conceal.    If you have bigger hands, this isnt gonna be for you.  

Glock 26/27/30  - If you like Glock design, these are a great choice.  Small than your 19/23, but still a good size if you have bigger hands.   I have fairly large hands and shoot hot 45ACP out of a 30 was no problem at all with recoil/snap.  

That is just my recommendations.   Also, if you have felt some guns, and find what you like, double check prices before jumping on something at a gun show.  Maybe you have better experiences, but shows here in Nebraska (strong gun culture) have prices that are through the roof for any modern gun.   Unless I am looking for something old/vintage, Ill buy from Buds Gun Shop.   BudsGunShop.com has unbelievably low prices (I swear I am not a rep).  You order it online and have it sent to your local FFL, which means probably a $25 transfer fee of the weapon.  In the case of pricey guns, you can save a lot since you don't have to pay sales tax (of course depending on your state).    That is just my honest .02.   Of course, as you can see, all people will have their own subjective opinions.

@scotty Tuned, I hear you, I'm always trolling gun websites, and this will be my first firearm, I am merely going on off the experience I have with this firearms either from friends, or shooting them at a range. But I need something along the lines of the LC9, since its small and still fit well in my medium size hands. Anything decently priced will be on the top of my list as well

I carry a Glock 19...it is a little big...gonna buy a 27 next

i carry the 40. it's my first gun but i did check out a few of the options mentioned here. nothing else felt as good as the 40, or m&p guns in general. i'm 6'5" ~300lbs and it sits in my hand perfectly. it can be completely concealed on the waist or f/r pockets. the only complaints i've ever read about m&p is the trigger, but the shield is supposedly improved (i don't have enough experience for legitimate comparison). the 40 is a little jumpy since it's a small gun with a large round but even with minimal experience i'm pretty accurate with it. i have shot the 9mm version also and it seems a bit more accurate and much easier to rapid fire. the bodygaurd .38 is also a legit option. it's got the m&p ergonomics, feels good even my hands (with extended clip), comes with a built in laser, has good capacity, and is priced well. if the extended clip was released when i bought the 40 i probably would have copped the 38 for concealed and got either a compact 40 or full size 45 for home/business protection.

Sig Sauer P 229, mines is a 9mm but I love it! Plus you can always just change the barrels for a larger cal.

i do like the p229 i used to have one but sold it a few years back when i was jobless and money was tight. womp womp.

he needs concealment gun so Beretta is way too big.   Sig 238 I would say is very nice little gun and the PM9 or LC9.   I had a Kimber Ultra CDP II before and liked the size of that gun too and it was pretty.   I've had a Ruger SR9 and it was just garbage.   I don't know what I was thinking when I bought that.   I agree Glock you can't go wrong but sometimes those small compact ones are hard to shoot.   Look into some wheel guns too since alot of them are very light and VERY reliable.   The last thing you want is to be in a fire fight and your gun jams.

the pm9 is a great gun for concealment and with the pinky mag extension, its not the worst to shoot. i have decent sized hands and shooting it isn't unpleasant by any means.

i carry a g22 and a g21 ive had 1 of my g22's for over 12 years and have never had any problems love glocks and i do have a few other guns but maintnance wise the g19 all day long.

@Blitz, dam why u shittin on the SR9

because it's true.  The gun feels loose.  Not much for tolerance on that gun.  Also the chamber indicator is a sore sight.   I sold it after one mag.   If you like it thats cool but MOST don't and I'm pretty sure they feel the same way as I.   If you are at the price range of $400 go with Glock or LC9.   Don't get anything too expensive because when you carry the gun gets messed up.  Also if you happen to use it you'll most likely will have to give the gun for evidence and god know when you'll ever get it back.

I've gotten that same cheaper feel/looser fit on every semi auto Ruger I've dealt with, not just the SR9.   I'm glad I'm not just being picky and that you agree Blitz.  I'm a big fan of their wheel guns, but I just can't get behind their semi auto.   Kind of like Taurus in a way.  Some people swear by those things, but compare a Taurus Judge next to a S&W 629 or anything, and you see/feel a huge quality difference.

Sorry in advance for getting a little sidetracked, but would the peeps who do carry a concealed firearm care to elaborate their reasons for doing this? As an European I just can't imagine why an Average Joe would feel the need to carry (conceal) one when going on with their daily life... While working in difficult/changing environments I do understand the need to be able to protect yourself and other people around you, like emergency/safety personnel etc.

Don't crucify me for asking about this, I don't care about gun control in general, but I do occasionally worry about my customers carrying concealed weapons (OC-sprays/tasers/blades/firearms). And I would feel a tad better if people would leave their toys at home when they go out to party and get drunk as fuck:shrug:

I will chime in and say that I am not a concealed carry person.   I cant justify testing for a permit, paying for a permit, and then not being able to carry it to 95% of the places I go because of restrictions (schools, etc), and then having the liability.     My philosophy is that if I am going to a place where I need to carry, I probably shouldnt be going to that place.   While some may have legit need to carry, I think a large majority dont.    While it is great to say "Because I am a man and the 2nd amendment lets me", I just have no personal need and don't need to bolster my ego.   Just different strokes for different folks.

it's more of a protect your person issue and a defensive mentality, than a "i'm a badass with a gun". we (at least in texas) have laws against brandishing a weapon for the sake of doing so or using it as a threat. there's a lot of repercussions of using a weapon in a threatening manner without any kind of justification.

I had mine more for my business.   I'm there almost everyday until closing which is usually around 9:30-10pm and I'm the last to leave.   Therefore I feel I am a target from the criminal element.

Well mine was just to show friends it could be done then my other jobs require it as I am a licensed armed guard plus I also do figitive recovery as well.

Even better 500S&W Magnum...most powerful production handgun in the world.   It's a beast to control and it sure scares the shit out of the guys/gals in the next lane.  Too bad it cost $3 a round though...ugh.

I don't carry all day and every day.  

I usually carry when I go out shopping, carrying a lot of cash, or in areas that I am not fully comfortable with (ie new areas) or bad sides of town.

You carry (concealed) presuming and hoping you would never have to use it...otherwise you open carry to feel like a "cool guy" lol

Juzzo, I carry cause I live in America. So many retards here. Also, I look for a reason to use it.. I do not like our system here. If you are a creeper, you start ish, tweekin, stealin, then trying to mug me for money.. I will be happy to tell you, You are now going to meet god for your actions. I have dealt with so much bs over the years not to have one. I live in a great area, but it will catch people off guard cause of it. Its a self confidence thing as well. If someone approaches you and they are sketch, you are not going to show fear. In the back of my mind I say give me one reason, please. haha 

So far I have used it a few times for my protection, and a lot of other times for others. Recently the last time was a guy who tried to beat someone up in a parking lot cause the semi truck driver supposedly cut this guy off. ( I know about truck driving, mind the big truck ) I needless to say I put a stop to it just by walking over with the gun drawn pointed to the ground. And received many free car hauls after for my heroic efforts. I usually carry a xd45 compact, but that time I did not have it and only had my Sig 556 in the trunk of my car.

Curious on what gun you bought? A gun carried on you should be comfortable, and easy to use. you dont have time when you need to use it to flip on gadgetry, sight in. A lot of time if you need to use it in self defense everything you were taught goes out the window unless you practice it day in day out. Main thing you need to practice is can you get it to it fast, and can you chamber a round and fire it in one breath. Cause a lot of times you may not be able to just pull it out and win an argument with out shooting or telling someone to stand down. it does not matter where you aim, just fire. The first shot, should be if that person has a weapon, must hit that person, does not mater where, just keep firing if they keep coming at you. if you are trying to diffuse a situation cause he as a knife or a bat, and at a distance, discharge the weapon in a complete opposite direction. This gives you fire power in court for a warning shot before you shot the person

I stand by gun rights. It takes a much bigger man to deal with killing someone than to put up your fists and fight lol.

that last sentence makes a lot of sense...because not too many people will be able to deal with killing someone enough to consider even carrying any weapon...There is a sale coming up this November on a potential piece that I wan. hopefully i get it.
