2GS wheel preference: 19" vs. 20"?

Ok, I have tried researching on multiple "VIP" sites and I can not seem to find a conversation discussing this. I really want to hear feedback and opinions on peoples preference (pros and cons) to wheel size on 2GS's. 

I am currently running HRE 543r's 20x8.5 +37 and 20x9.5 +37. I want to more aggressive with my setup and had the intention of rebuilding the HREs to be wider. But the more I research the 2GS, the more I find that everyone is running 19" wheel setups. I am curious as to the plus and minus's of 20" vs. 19".  I really need help! So please offer opinions and preferences! Oh and, BTW I was going to rebuild the HREs to 20x9.5 +25 and 20x10.5 +25. Any opinions on that or other setups would be extremely appreciated! =)

Totally subjective, dude. You can get lower on smaller wheels, that's the short of it.

So, if my plan is to go from static to bagged... 19" are the easier setup but 20" will require serious body work and radiusing of the fenders? Ill also try to find pictures of speedaddicts car for a visual reference! Thanks for the direction!

Most VIP guys are going to run 19's. Mainly because you can get lower, which is our main goal. Most of the newer car guys are running 20s because they have more fender well to fit them.

I'd run 19's unless you radius.  Just my opinion.  Once you radius, it's harder to go back to 19's

Hmmm... well. All things considered and from what I have found in my research... if I want to bag it and lay it out, the most feasible approuch would be to go to 19'. Looks like I have some HREs that I will need to be selling! LOL! I will soon be listing them up if I can (I dont think I am allowed to yet)! Now to figure out the best widths and offsets...:signdammit:

I'm 50/50, I like both. 20s fill in the wheel well almost perfectly, where as sometimes with 19s they can look small. But, 19s do make it easier to go lower. One advantage with 19s is being able to run 35 series, whereas with 20s, 30 series is more common since 35 series are harder to fit.

I switched from 20s to 19s with a 1" radius. I like 19s

19s imo, or 18s if you bout that life. 20s are cool too,but not my preferance.

LOL! This is making my decision harder! haha ... I  guess the best way to decide is to get my Air Suspension setup on first and see where that takes me! I agree with Kyoei though. I really like how 20' fill the wheel well of the GS. But I will obviously have to do body work to lay it out like I want.

19's are the way to go IMO. You fill the wheel gap nicely and it sits well.

You also need to take in consideration of the tires. With 19s, you can get a little bit more meat, so I will be a bit more comfy and safe. There's also the design of the wheel to think about. Wheels with spokes that go all the way out to the edge of the lip look bigger. With step lip of spokes that sink in at the edge, the faces look smaller.

it actually depends how your car sits, 18 can look better than 20 and vise versa.

I'm still a 20" guy on these cars. Have been running 20s on mine since '03.

245/30-20 = 245/35-19 as far as height/diameter, so you can get just as low on 20s.

I would say 19s seems to be a more common route. Unless it is a bigger car that can swollow the wheels like the F50s can. This was a big debate for me as well. But when it came down to it, I would much rather put in the time and do the work to fit the 20s on mine. I want to do a radius and tuck if that makes sense lol

All boils down to owner preference....I been thinking of going down to a 19...now I think im just gonna put in the work (radius) to get the car to sit how I want

It needs to be said that 20's run into the wheelwell when slammed. At least on 35 series tires

Sorry, been absent from VSC for a while because of work and school schedule. But I am back! I am starting to make the winter moves, have acquired a set of coilover/bags and in the process of getting my air management system. That being said... this wheel setup will be made for an air ride oriented car.

I have been rolling on my 20' HREs for a while, and even though they are pretty mild width/offset specs I have noticed some serious banging on Atlanta roads. In discussions with other local GS owners this is upper control arm slamming. But to Volk's comment is it also wheel slamming into the wheel well?

DirtyATL - Dude I love your car every time I see it! I would rock your wheels. If they are still up for sale after I can find a buyer for my HRE's I would love to talk to you about them.

Lowlyfey - I saw you post those up on the FS threads. Ive always been a huge fan of Meisters. Werent they on a friends G35? I wouldnt mind seeing how those things would look on the GS!

I was flipping through an older VIPStyle mag again the other day and I realized that I really like 18" wheels. Even on cars as big as the G50 President, or Celsiors. Wasn't until the mid-2000s that people started rocking 19+ wheels on big bodies.

I know I definitely don't care for 20" on the 2GS, and though I do like 19s for that "big wheel" look, the tucked rear (without radius, obvs) really bugs me and I think I prefer a really slammed and well fitted 18" setup. That's definitely the route I'll be going.

Yea, its official. I will be going with 19's with either 19x9.5 19x10.5 and 10ish offset or a 19x10 19x11 with a 15ish offset. Front the research I can find that is a good fitment with slight pull in the rear. If I am completely wrong here, please someone correct me before I do something stupid! hahaha

But my one problem is people are saying I would have to run a 225 in the front... I really want to run a 235 for a little more protection. But honestly dont know if it will fit/look good.

235/35 on a 9.5 is still a decent stretch.

Yea I think thats what im going to go with OG. 225 just scares me for the front tires that take most of the abuse.
