I've been lurking the forums for a few weeks now, avoiding making any posts knowing that 9 times out of 10 whatever I want to know has already been posted. This is more of a looking-for-input post. I want to look into building a custom enclosure because 1) my current closure slides all over the god damn place, and 2) while it's kind of small-ish, it makes the trunk much less useful and cluttered.

What I want to do right now is build an enclosure that sits against the sides of my trunk, behind the wheel wells. I think the same method of making a spare wheel well enclosure would work fine, but how could I keep it from moving around on the flat trunk floor? Couple strips of Velcro? Has anyone made these before? Does the bass sound any different compared to having the subs side-by-side? What about reverse mounting them, so that the baskets are on the outside? Does that require additional reinforcement or a special way of building the enclosure?

The subs being mounted are 2 10" Polk MM speakers, 4ohm SVC. Not very wide, but pretty deep and heavy.

The more I think about it, how does corner-mounting a sub affect the performance and sound? It seems like, unless you have a really large trunk, you may not get enough sq. ft. of enclosure space to allow the woofers to function correctly?
