Plastidip: Acceptable for VIP?

So, say you bought a used platform VIP car and the paint is quite knackered, or if you got brand new one and want to save the paint when going on coast-coast trips and if you would rather spend money on original deep dishes and new Kawzkins before paint, so to hide blemishes, you sprayed it with Plastidip flat white using a professional spray gun and saved 2500 for the wheels and probably a bunch of VIP interior pieces. I know a lot of BMW "M" and Audi guys use it with no shame, but is Plastidip acceptable in the BIPPU community if the current paint is unsightly?

I would never plastidip my whole car.. but I have considered doing it on the front for long road trips... 

However, do what you want... Unless someone else starts paying your note lol!

plasti dip is like changing shoe strings on some busted kicks - yeah it might refresh the look temporarily but underneath it all - still some busted kicks

I was gonna plasti-dip the inside barrel of my wheels matte black. It hides the brake dust and when it comes time to sell the wheels just rip that shit off and its like new underneath.

What is the prep of it, will it bond to anything without messing up the original surface, like a plastic grill?

I have used it before (on a Maxima and G35) but...

i think plastidip is a viable option. i have considered it myself (on a car with an expensive custom paint job) just because i think matte is better as temporary finish and the plastidip seems to comes out better (and cheaper) than vinyl.

I say in the case you stated above I would say "ok" but only as a temporary solution. Ultimately I would prioritize wheels over paint (sad to say, but to me even a primered car with nice wheels and suspension will always look better than a car with an amazing $5k paint job on 15in steelies at stock height. It's just like rocking an body kit on stock wheels and height.). Like with anything else, if you are going to do it, at least do a generous amount of prep work so that the plastidip finish will resemble a true "suede" paint job.

If you do it, don't half-ass it. This isn't a "I'm doing it just to do it" community. Do it right and well and you will earn the elders respect. Do it shitty and you won't hear the end of it.

My front grille is plasti-dipped. Got bored with a buddy one day, and just havent ever noticed it enough to take it off since.. 
Seen some people go a BIT over-board with it though. I like it and think just like anything else in life, it's okay in moderation.

i think it depends on the paint on your car. if its still in the works and rough as hell, than platidip may be a decent option if you cant afford paint yet. but never put plastidip over paint that is in acceptable shape. plus plastidip is awful to get off. so dont put it on paint you like becuase you will scatch the shit out of it dude.

forgot to add this is a VIP form and platidip isent VIP whatsoever. clearly. so some may and more than likley will give ya a hard tome about it

I think instead of plastidip... I would consider a single stage paint job..

why does it have to be acceptable lol just gives you option to change colors weekly if u choose to. but be aware not as "strong" as vinyl wrapping but far less costly.

I think it serves its purpose for certain types of usage. I would use it on emblems,trims, and other certain items.
