2001 Lexus GS430 Rebirth...

Hey guys...so a few months ago...my GS got hit...some lady backed up on to my car lol...the car was so low that her VW CC just rode on top of my hood and bumper. It was a very minor hit too. All she got was a scratched rear bumper. I had a bent hood, destroyed bumper, destroyed headlight brackets, destroyed grill and bent radiator support. I was planning on just working on my AE86 and getting out of the game if they totaled it. Well, they didn't total it. Since buying the GS from the great Gato...I haven't really done much to the car besides minor things. Recently went lower with BC extreme low coilovers. I had the scaras polished last year. The wheels are beautiful but is very weak being driven daily as well as the unforgiving east coast roads. I decide to get some Work Ryver Touring, had it rebuilt to 18x9.5+8 / 18x10.5-4. After the accident I decided to clean up the car a bit more and had all the damage fixed. I am rebuilding the wheels to have 1" more lip all around so the final offset on the new setup will be 18x10.5 -17 5"lip / 18x11.5 -29 6"lip. Hopefully it will fit! I had the fenders done to accommodate the new wheels. Since I daily my car, I wanted it to be a little different than the other daily GS out there so I changed the bumper a tad bit. I also got tired of just rocking the TTE lip. The exhaust piping was also changed and tucked since I kept replacing the old setup every 6 months or so. It is nothing fancy but it will get the job done. The car also got a full respray...same color black cherry pearl

I guess this will be my little build thread? It will most likely be slow since I dont have a lot of funds and also working on a different project. I also understand it might not be everyone's taste...so if you have something mean to say...please make it constructive and sound positive as much as possible hahaha! the car is driven everyday so it is not as clean as how I hope it would be. On to pictures!

Old piping. Probably my 3rd set lol...

New piping. Tucked as well, nothing special

New fender pull. I wanted something all metal since I daily the car. I also am not trying to build a full vip car but rather just a clean daily driven one. I feel these fenders show that pretty good. The front and rear was pulled to accommodate the new setup which is 18x10.5 -17 5"lip / 18x11.5 -29 6"lip.

Pretty much how she sits now. The car was not raised but the fenders were raised a bit during the rolling process. Nate(Dreamakers) said that I can roll a lot lower now lol. I will see how I like dailying it like that but I might end up lowering it a bit more to make the lips touch the fenders.

The car is pretty much finished besides waiting on some bumper grill pieces. I know most of you can already tell what bumper it is but I had to keep some minor suspense I guess. lol

Once I daily it and feel comfortable, I might consider getting skirts to match. I already am locating for a specific one actually. I will also most likely finally...maybe??? go air next year! I am just trying to keep up with the rest of the left coast!..

She is ready for pickup!...I am planning on putting like euro bracket or plates in front but I want to see it in person first...Let the hating begin! lol

haha...the thing that matters to me a lot is the ride height...I feel right now I am ok with my setup since I can pretty much dump it underground lol...since its winter here this will be the current height...once March comes it...ill lower it maybe about an inch ish more...IF i do go air..it will be the same setup as Philly GS...BC extreme drop coils with short bags...his ride height is lip to fender and still very comfy:)...i am considering air for next year lol..
HangLoose;471216 wrote:You should go air, i feel that you'll never be satisfied unless your car is literally on the ground. Thats how I feel lol.

haha yeah...it took me a while to get used to it...if i used the AMG bumpers it wouldnt be as "loud"...but I was looking for an MB bumper with flat corners...since I wasnt planning on running different skirts...so it was either... 1. less crease and a bulge on the corner of the bumper and wont match with stock... or 2. flat sides that will match with OEM but sharper crease lol...im already used to seeing my "mugen rsx parrot beak bumper" but i felt the bumps on the side would bug me lol..

lol the mugen has a beak from the grill opening though. i can see how you could get used to it, but imo it doesn't flow with the hood very well. i feel ya on picking what works best though.

that's the thing with these bumper conversions. A lot are great ideas, but the execution could be a little better. Could that crease in the middle been worked out? Yes, but a lot more work would be needed to do it right. I'm sure you were on a budget with the wreck and the guys at Dreammakers don't work for free so I see why the front turned out the way it did. Best look for the price and time. Instances like this, I'd rather see the front bumper in primer and in process to get it perfect before painting it.

What it boils down to Martin is that you're happy with it. The look on your face in those pics and the posts that you make show it all. You're satisfied, that's all that matters man. Enjoy it...

haha yeah, you are completely right...I could have probably used a different bumper as well. Maybe someday when I can stop driving it everyday, I can maybe try to do an awesome build like yours! but for now like you said, you see it on my IG pictures and post haha...

honestly i dont think that line would be that hard to remove. The overall contour of the bumper would still need some work but taking the edge out of that line would make all the difference. I bet it wouldnt take a whole day to knock that out maybe 2-3 hours tops and thats mainly waiting for shit to dry.

ill have to talk to Nate about it...he has done a few conversions under his belt and he stated that he tried to get much of it off...I do agree that if I still had it in the shop for a few more days or hours it might have disappeared...but I needed a car to get to work lol...

Yeah that does suck. You dont have a factory bumper laying around? Throw one on there so they can finish that bumper up.

even if they would have built the crease up on the original bumper. without would look best but with would have been ok too. half and half looks lazy to me.
