Dear Admins!

So I know this spam shit has been a topic recently, but a thought occurred to me just now. Would it be possible to add a "human test" into the registration page? That might help with the bs advertisement... Thoughts?

Isnt that what the email verification does?

I can't say I've noticed it on any other board I browse either. But none of the other boards have the international community thise does.

i've seen it on a few forums, but they're smaller forums. may stem from the fact that we don't have super active mods and admins. larger forums have more mods on almost 24/7 just from the sheer amount of volume of users they get. helps keep down the spam. we're definitely one of the smaller more niche forums and we don't have as much moderation, but i do see some guys deleting spam.

We need more active mods. Just give them power to remove spams atleast

But does that stop bot's registering... I'm no IT guy but I would thought it wouldn't be hard to program 'em to go around it. Especially 'cuz "they" create a lot of dummy e--mail accounts...

It slows them down, maybe adding a text message with some sort of random code would work, or since they seem to be all the same format, someone should approve their account before they can post. Just thoughts

Yeah man I  understand what your doing and big up to all of you mods.

we know its annoying for you guys. its even more so for us, but we do the best we can like airmax said.

This topic was brought up to me today. So we can ban these members but don't remember if only admins have that permission and not moderators. I haven't been on the boards for months now. I am no longer than admin since last year so I cannot do anything.

There is also a "Report Post" function at the bottom left of each post. Although I'm not sure who receives it. I have reported the useless guy above me. I think he needs help with his English

The problem is 

1. They post random shit 
2. Its in a foreign language (too some)
3. It completely random 

You guys are doing good, its just the nature of the beast

Crazy stuff. I still need to clean up the users. I check the forum now every half hour or so just to clean spam. Once I clean up the users we should be ok.

As far as the subject at hand, I have seen several of us logged in and busy "house cleaning".  I knew there would be a slight lax of moderation activity due to the holidays and things should get back to normal as this new year progresses.  I think John and I will have a discussion on our current moderating team to maybe see where everyone is at in life and their daily/weekly schedules.  Although we all love the forums, it's not our entire life as I'm sure it's not all of yours...but we do want the upkeep of the place to stay on point.  Sometimes the spam hits at unusual hours of the night and some of us may be sleeping.  You have to understand things like that can happen.  We do get a pretty good spread over time zones, but no ones perfect.

I'm just saying there are a lot of people including myself that have been on here a very long time that log daily.  Been here since 2005.  I wouldn't mind contributing to vsc.

I'm with Jermaine, wouldn't mind helping out if needed... plus like he I'm also from a different time zome(GMT+2).

i noticed some mods delete the spam and it leaves a message in the thread that there was a post that was deleted and i notice other mods remove the post altogether and it leaves no sign of it ever being there. make it so it always deletes all signs of the post! it leaves the thread cleaner.

We had complaints in the past due to this and we don't wish to encounter them again.  As far as SPAM goes though, Supermods are allowed to hard delete obvious SPAM posts and threads.  But anything questionable gets brought to Admin attention and handled justly and fairly.

I noticed that when I delete through Tapatalk, it soft deletes even when I choose 'permanent'. Best I can do while I'm not home.

Gonna have to make it so members have to be approved before they can post. Obviously all these funky ass names can be booted instantly. I'm on a another smaller forum (non-car related) that requires you to be approved by the owner of the forum before you can post... haven't had a lick of spam.
