front coilover springs popping when turning

my y34 obviously has the mcpherson style setup where the spring/strut spins all together, well i've been dealing with the dreaded spring popping when turning and im gettin tired of it. lol anyone else with megan coils have that issue or know of a remedy? i soaked the bearings and springs with silicone spray and seems to help some but still not all the way.  :sad:

you're too high, go lower.

lol funny you say that. i didnt notice the noise til after i slotted my plates to get up to -4.5 up front and lowered it more when i was on 20s

could you pm me a price for a pair to fit my megans, OG? its the top half thats not spinning and causing the spring to bind n pop so i suppose only puttin some of those on the top would remedy it.

Yea, those are ok, but I've experienced popping running them too.  It's really just a pain in the ass to get rid of. The roller bearings seem to work the best. I would try to find some in 62mm if possible.

all im finding is 2.5" ID bearings so far :/ i need to get an actual OD measurement of the strut tube to see if the 60mm will in fact work.......anyone have any megan coils available for a quick measurement???

i have no experience with the bearing type, but my gut tells me they'd wear/freeze/flat spot pretty easilly and fail. i've never had any binding issues with the the sheets, but i think i've only run them on a couple mcpherson cars.

a 65mm on a 62 is fine.

Give FA call, they are very helpful, and I know they will know if it will work on your Megans. 


I thought the same thing OG, I ran them for about a year before FA released them and never had a problem, but it's true it is a bearing and it is exposed to elements.

Yea, S14. I'm sure at some point they will fail, especially if you drive in the rain a lot, but I do know it made the noise go away :)

Good Info. I've just said screw it and dealt with it but I don't drive my car everyday.
