Y33 Oil Pan Clearance/Replacement

Hey guys I popped my oil pan last night. I've already JB welded it in the past so it needs to be replaced. Has anyone done this job before? Looks like I'll have to drop the cross member, ps, and a bunch of other stuff.

Any ideas on how I can improve clearance or better protect it? Lifting the motor seems like too much work because the tranny doesn't have any clearance to move upwards. Steel skids plates only do so much if not make the situation worse. I've heard of guys in japan using hard urethane skid plates or something similar. I was thinking maybe something hard enough to withstand the hit but soft enough to absorb some impact to the oil pan? Or maybe some sort of urethane or hard rubber in between my current steel skid plate and oil pan? Just thinking out loud here because I don't want to damage a fresh pan. I'd rather raise the car or get 19s at that point:sad: What other options do I have?

not sure on the y33, but on the g50 replcing the oil pan involves lifting the motor out of the subframe for clearance. what a couple members have done is space up the motor from the motor mounts. no mention of clearance issues. since you need to replace the pan anyway now would be the perfect time.

I have a 3/16" steel skid plates. It stiff enough for certain speeds but I'm guessing it flexes when I'm booking 75-80 on the highway at night and hit something lol

An inch and a half?! Good lord. Here I am thinking I gotta raise my car so I don't keep fucking up my pan but now it's looking like it's time to go lower. :giggity: At that rate I'll probably just toss my skid plate.

Agreed! You won't ever have to worry about the oil pan
Subframe & Frame rails hit first

Josh and I installed mine. It's a pain if you don't remove the subframe completely

I'm interested in a set too. The coils are going on shortly, so if I can save some abuse on the oil pan, I'm down.
