Allow me to reintroduce mY33self my name is...
What's going on VSC, so some of you might or not know recently I had the opportunity to pick up a living legend Oscar's "pancakes" iconic Q45 and even though the timing wasn't right some opportunities you just can not pass up.
Well I have owned her for short while now but I already made some progress and figured I'd log everything in a build thread to share and keep track of my journey with her.

(next to my homies GS and ritzy33)
First thing I did was to do some preventive maintenance and got her all ready to be driven daily as she should.
Next, I have to admit was a hard decision but I stripped the Aimgain kit and sold it to make this car more "me." The facelift was bittersweet but the homie Droo is killing it now so big props to him holding it down for all the Y33 owners.
The interior needed some work so my "lazyass" decided to pick up another Q45 and use it for parts and swamped the interior out
Since I picked her her up with no shoes on I decided on getting my favorite set of wheels at the moment, some VIP Modulars.

Unfortunately they were step-lipped 20's and the rear sizes is not to my liking but for temporaries there'll do and they are
for sale in case anyone is interested in them.
For now I am keeping the look of the stock body but I picked up Droo's "one of a kind dopeness" front lip ahaha and I love it!
So that is where the car stands at the moment...

and of course last but not least my favorite mod aka my "get out of jail" plate=)
Thanks you viewing hope I don't disappoint with where this build is heading.
Drew

For what is to come I am using this as my blueprint/inspiration

I want to put my money in this build where it counts, performance.
Still new to all this so I am researching everything I need to perform a swap:
I am assuming I'll need custom motor mounts, trans mounts, and driveshaft.
The swap I decide on, trans, ecu, and someone to do my wiring haha
OR go with a custom turbo set up... so how easy are these parts to source out? (not sure what I need specifically but off the top of my head I need)
Turbo, turbo manifold, oil lines, intercooler and piping, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, some sort of tuning program, boost controller, wastegate, turbo timer....
By no means am I a subject matter expert if any one has any advice on this uncharted path please chime in and thanks in advance. I already spoke with Alex from Battle Version and so far he's been my only lead or help.

i really disliked those wheels until i saw them on pancakes. somehow it just works.
if you are interested i have a vq30det out of a 98 gloria (same motor that was in grant's cedric) in the stash. it'll take some figuring out but would be pretty bad ass.

Have you considered one of those rear mount turbo setups?

This if your looking moderate performance from the engine. Plus you gotta factor in general overhaul for the engine, and upgraded internals for bigger power.
I don't see any point in doing this swap with stock everything, your car will perform worse than fit the old V8 haha... most of the stuff from the donor is useless. So you gotta go all out, and it's actually easier that way. Just need to find a fabricator and a wiring guru if your not up to the task. Most of the other stuff you can handle by your self IF you got good basic mechanic skills and a proper place/tools. Parts shouldn't be a problem, just prepare spending at least 10K over the engine+trans if your doing the whole thing with the homies.
Quick run down(I'm basing fabbing/part prices on my 2JZ experience here in Finland)
- 1500+ engine
- 1000-5000 trans
- diff 500-2000
- axles/d.shaft 500-2000
- basic overhaul stuff 500-2000
- internals 2000-4000
- head 1000+
- ems 1500-3000
- 2x turbos 1000-4000
- custom exh. manifolds 2000-4000
- custom exh. piping 300-3000
- ic + piping 500-2000
- wastegates+bovs 600-2000
- custom wiring 500-2000
- misc lines fittings etc 500-1000
- tune 500
- extra fabrications or shop mechanic, dunno 100-10K haha
Hmmm must have missed something, sounds bit cheap.... Well between 20k and 100k should suffice for the swap
....
Oh fueling side also 2000-4000

the swap would be useful because the det is a low compression motor, forged internals, oem manifolds, bolt in, with aftermarket support. $1k replaces about $10k worth of stuff on your list. the det can easily outpower the vh for less money, which isn't saying a whole lot since vh41de is a slug anyway (the det has about the same power, give or take a few hp either way depending on year). plus it's a vq, one of the most celebrated engines of our time.

there's a guy with a s14 vq30det swap on zilvia. you could probably hit him up for some info too. he posted up a lot of things that were necessary for installation.

Ohh so the swap is mostly bolt-in... that's good, it'll lower the overall swap price heaps.
But performance? I was just saying that in stock form there's no point, even if it has a better pickup, power band so to speak. But in the end with out performance mods it'll still move like a Q45, either shed 1000lbs of fat or pump up the power greatly with additional traction.
Just my 2 cents, and I love fat boat with powaah =)

Yea I am not expecting to take out GTR's obviously with this and it really wouldn't be practical but neither is dropping money on ridiculous camber and dealing with tires and every other hassle that comes with that low lifestyle. This is more of wanting to do it to do it...to be that guy and so I can get LOLVIP vanity plates hahaha jk
But what I am debating is if I should go all out with my theme ie: gut the whole rear, do a full cage welded onto the body, and add an APR wing. I just wanna do something different, I am over cosmetic modifications to many crazy builds popping up so I wanna go this route. This is going to be a slow build and I have in my head to drop around 10k so we'll see how this progresses. For the meanwhile expect to see a new paint color and wheels in the upcoming months.

I love the direction you're going with it, and have always loved what you've done to the Q45s that you've owned. A new power plant would be mind blowing for y33 owners since that's rarely ever done. Keep up the awesome work and stay inspired Drew!

Well me personally I would go with the V-6-cylinder 3.0 L VQ30DET since you can get the motor stateside and since it came in the Y33 in Japan you'll just need to source the wire harness and Ecu's to make it a plug and play setup.

That's Yokotas13 from this board. I don't think he's on anymore but yeah thats his car at one point of it's life. I bought those exact wheels about 5-6 years ago. I believe I sold it to Jermaine in Hawaii afterwards.
