Reliability of Y33s - Owners please

If I was to purchase this car today, given the high mileage and the natural beast of a V8 engine - Are these cars reliable?  From past experience, my ownership of a G20 had its fair share of headaches and heartaches as well.

For those that purchase their Y33 used, what are the significant issues that you had to deal with?

The only thing I have had to do to mine was replace the alternator and brakes. Other than that no problems what so ever..They are great reliable vehicles..Go get it! Do it!

I have had a slight stumble or hesitation in the engine. Some say its my Coil packs some say its spark plugs, etc... But other than that its great gas isnt bad either well for a v8

i also just bought mine, and have slightly same problem as what "miyabita y33" said. so im doing the major tune up. 


other than that IM HAPPY ! ! !   i drove from riverside to pasadena with almost a quarter tank . . so i guess gas aint too bad at all

coil packs are the only major issue w/ y33's and if 1 goes down change them all out cause they're all gonna go down.

i had a oil leak but my xk brotha fergy just tightened down the valve cover... then i had a squeaky steering noise, a little lube and i was all good (steering fluid low, topped it off) and that's about it. everything else on the Y-sansan works just fine! all the buttons, the sunroof, the power sunshade... everything! A/C blows cold and will freeze your balls frozen!

The previous owner took good care of mine up until I bought it around 100K miles. Since I've had it, no problems yet, just the regular tuneup when I bought it; fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter change, spark plugs, drain and refill of all fluids. I just hate how the park brake pedal is not as far to the left and up as I would like, I hit my shin on it all the time.

my 1997 y33 has been very good to me to.

the previous owner took very good care of the car as the  infiniti dealer maintenance history was extremely detailed. 

IMO the y33 is a diamond in the rough when done up VIP style. 

Proper wheels, proper drop and a proper body kit can make it look like no other luxury car on the market. In a world of the LS, and GS,the q45 stands out. 

with low resale value and crazy wheel fit-ment capability, it is the ideal platform for VIP.
