wheel grinding on coilover!!!
On my 97 Q45 I have 18x9,10 +38, with 5mm slip-on spacers on the front to clear the coilovers, I know thats weaksauce but I thought the wheels might be three piece and I could rebuild them before I bought them but it turned out not to be true (my fault). Recently I started hearing an odd noice when the steering wheel is at or close to full lock. Now keep in mind i just recently have been driving the car so the suspension I think has settled, and the coilovers are maxed. I took off the wheels the other day and noticed a small spot on my driver side coilover with some rubber build up on the top collar and some damage on the tire, with none of that on the passenger side. Now why is doing that on one side and not the other? what I've narrowed it down to is:
1.) Defective spacer.
2.) Wheel out of round.
3.) Some kind of suspension issue.
The only thing about the wheel being out of round is that I haven't anything hard enough, in my opinion, to bend it. Also there is no obvious damage on the wheel. With this being said should seriously I sell these wheels and get ones with better offset, get extended studs and put on some bigger slip-on spacers, or get bolt on spacers. Any help will indeed help.

could just be weight difference/transfer. the clearance gets tight on mcpherson cars. run more spacer for now, and when the time comes run a width/offest combo with more inner clearance.

defective offsets lol - i know you need +10 or less to clear bags so id go with a wider spacer as OG stated

I'll probably just get bigger slip-on spacers with extended studs in the front. Any help on what size or a part # for the studs I should need?

wheel grinding on coilover!!!
I wouldn't do that if I was you. If u going 20 mil get the hub centric spacers with the studs on them. I had issues or the installer had issues with the fronts and rears. They fucked the pressed bearing and that cost my 800

if your wheel is 9x114.3. you will need either slip on spacer. or bolt on build in stud spacer that is 25mm or thicker.

i prefer slip on to bolt on, although i am running bolt ons at the moment. for the y33 you can use s14 nismo studs. in fact i have a pair of 50mm (10mm extended) rears fs, nib.

Look up FIC wheel spacers. They have 10mm hub and wheel centric BOLT ON spacers.

Go ARP studs and slip on spacers. Best way to go IMO.
ARP studs are like 50$ a corner but better quality than even the OEM studs. You'll need minimum 10mm once you pull the 5mm off.
Part number for ARP 5 pack is # 100-7716

Thanks for all the help guys but i decided to go with 25mm ichiba bolt ons. As soon as they come in I'm getting my fenders rolled and pulled.

Careful of the studs on the Ichiba's they're known to strip!
