How active is this forum? For conversation sake.

I noticed a lot of the posts were from mid last year. Does anyone still really communicate on here? Would anyone say the VIP style is kinda dying? 

What about all the vendors? I noticed kyoei hasnt been updated in a lil bit. =/ 

I am having a hard time finding some LEGIT sexy parts.

times have changed. facebook, instagram, and home forums seem to be where people are making the updates. i think a lot of people still check vsc, but don't post as much. there's also some drama associated with posting on vsc for some people. the style is more popular than ever though.

the forum also doesn't retain a lot of the newer members since usually they just like what they see but aren't willing to put in the work/time/$$$. we live in an instant gratification world.

I agree. Sucks the people are so impatient. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Why rush the ideal build? But I still wouldn't mind finding reliable hook-ups. I mean finding the right parts for good prices is better than finding the cheaper parts and being unsat.

NOT very active at all lol it took me so long just to get to 50 post trying to make useful comments on a fourm that gets no love is so hard...but the people i have talked to so far are really nice but im with you in that boat of finding parts its real hard and it seems everything is going for top dollar and all the deals that used to be on this site from post around mid last year like u said are no longer in exsitance =/ dont worry tho this is still a great place to be im glad i joined lol

i specialize in suspension, so anything undercar i have you covered. freddie and the crew at autofashion are good people, they should be able to get you anything you want as far as jdm body, accesories, and wheels. brian at sessions usa is the man if you're looking for sessions parts. blakuza moves garson/dad and has some deep discounts on select pieces from time to time. if you're looking for a bbk gio and william at futura are killing the segment, but you should buy them through me ;-). agi is doing his thing with the luxury abstract brand of wheels and accesories. i wouldn't hesitate to do business with any of the vendors though, that's just the guys i know/have done business with. get yourself a list, forward it to all vendors, and see what comes back. most of this stuff is not stocked due to the cost vs. market so if it's custom or imported expect some lead time.

it's always like that. it slows down to a trickle, then all at once a bunch of things happen. i think a lot of the ogs have decided it's best to just spectate and the new school doesn't seem to stick around. pretty soon i'll have to argue with myself.

I honestly do a lot of spectating.  I don't get too involved, I would like to see the new members help define it for themselves.

So as far as the interior build, is it better to go towards one brand mostly or to mix it up? I am still trying to track down that junction produce/hello kitty air freshener. lol. so my vision for the car is pretty picky. i want a front bumper that has an aggressive yet very clean majestic look too it. I like seeing the bottom part of the bumper to look like its daggering forward like the old mugen style lips on the hondas. I like the side skirts kinda big, not too graphic, and compliments the curves of the car, and a rear bumper that extends pretty low and still hugs the dual exhaust. As far as rims, I want to start off with MRR HRE, then move onto these rims I saw that looked like they had cherry blossom pedal stickers on the dish. HID fogs, unique colored DRL, lowered, fitted, stretched, and that sexy VIP interior, trays, pillows, curtains and all. And a little more bump in the trunk.

have u tried clublexus? they are pretty active i dont even own one but i still check there from time to time they have a very decent selection of wheels along with some vip stuff from time to time. ive learned that its best to keep ur options open ive even gone so far to just type in what i was looking for with f/s on google and seen what pops up lol it doesnt seem like anybody wants to sell anything anymore lol

that sounds like a very traditional build, which is cool, but have you kept up with the current trends? a lot of cats come into the game with similar wish list, made up of the signature accesories, but don't realize that the image that most people think of when they think of a vip car is outdated. forunately, coverage from japan is easy to come by these days and you can see a little bit of everything from traditional to modern right now.

i'll tell you the same thing i tell everyone; get your foundation mods done first, and only after you're maintenance is up to date. the wheels, suspension, brakes, etc. are the core of the vip car. these are things you must have anyway, they are functional mods, and they don't go out of style. the trinkets can wait, and chances are if you do wait you'll be over it by the time you're ready to buy. those accesories are expensive so by holding off you will have more money to put where it counts. the other benefit is it will give you time to figure out what you really like aesthetically, since you have probably been exposed to very little up to this point.

[*]maintenance - if it doesn't run it doesn't matter what it looks like. if it's an older car and/or has no warranty make sure you're prepared when, not if, something breaks. we have lost a lot of builds because the owner couldn't afford to fix it after something went wrong.
[*]suspension - you have to get it low and you need adjustability to dial in the aligment specs you want; be it spec, mild, or oni camber. slamming it and toeing it out is not enough for a killer stance any more.
[*]wheels - it's best to wait until after you have your alignment set imo. that way you can be precise in your wheel specs.
[*]brakes, body, etc. - if you have open wheels you need to do something; whether it's upgraded stock, oem bbk, or aftermarket. chances are you're going to want some kind of body modifications like a kit, fenders, fender work, paint, lighting, etc. this is where you make your other big ticket purchases.

sidenote: imo it's very important to do your fender work, if any, after you have completely dialed in your suspension/wheels. some people do it out of order and then they're kind of stuck with their fender work and have to resort to less affective/attractive techniques to get the fitment on point.
[*]accesories - icing is great when it's on a cake, but only fatties sit down with a tub of chocolate frosting. chances are you're going to scoop and accesory or 2 along the way, but don't jump in and order the whole jp catalog while you're riding stock. honestly, i don't see what use a grown ass man has for a hello kitty anything anyway. no offense.

i always prefer matching to mix and match, but custom is the name of the game as long as you have someone who can knock it out of the park.

It is very traditional, I figure it would be a good starting point. As far as maintenance is concerned, I do 80% of the maintenance myself minus the big work i.e. engine repairs that would make it hard broke. But as far as brakes I do all of that. I am a mechanic by trade for the military and have no problem with most work I already have tools for. I have been able to track down most oem parts for my ucf30 but I have oem resources back in cali. I am actually getting my fender work done in a couple weeks. Getting them rolled first. Depending on the rims I buy for the rear, I am not pulling fenders yet. The hello kitty thing is more for my wife and daughter lol. My daughter is 3 and has an obsession of the sort. I prefer matching also since most things were made to match. I want to find a bbk and an admiration or aimgain kit. I plan on running 2 sets of rims out here due to the weather we get out here. I would rather have a b-list set for the snow that are inexpensive and my a-list for that sunshine. The primary look im going for is not over the top. I don't want a chandelier in the car since it is daily driven. And as far as stance goes, I want a stance I just dont want that same stance that celica had in japan if you know what I am talking about.

A lot of new members probably get their feelings hurt. They see a VIP car at their local show/meet or online somewhere then all of a sudden assume they can build a VIP car. They start a few threads and sorry, but your Civic, Galant, Maxima isn't VIP...you can create your own STYLE, sure. And the people with non-platform cars that stick around, have some nice rides. I find this site, and the members to be extremely helpful, but you aren't going to see 1000 new posts every day. We aren't very accepting of $600 wheels like most other builds/trends/car styles will tolerate.

yeh i dont like knockoff wheels. I don't get my feelings hurt too easy unless its just straight up shit talk. I am open to criticism and suggestions, but I bite back when the shit talk starts lol. I don't plan on buying some cheap body kit either. I like saving up for the ones I want and like. I like the jp parts, but I am hunting for sessions, aimgain, admiration, and wald. one set of rims for winter, and a set for summer. simple. =] I used to rock a civic back in the day, and saw how that scene was, and spent 4 years overseas, came back saying I won't do another civic. If i did get another honda, it would have been an s2k. Function over form for that cause, but my ls430, just a daily driven comfortable sex on wheels.

yeah man CL or club lexus is where i learned the ropes in the lexus world.  after moving back stateside in 04 and picking up a 2gs i learnt (always wanted to use this word for some reason) about CL and more specifically the tons of lexus modding knowledge on there.  then i moved to the LS430 section and managed to learn everything there is to know about the LS (in my opinion).  you will get a good feel for most of the available parts for the car as well as pics, pricing, and great reviews, tips and tricks,, plus most importantly i learned what not to do to my car thorough seeing others trials and tribulations.  but more importantly i tried about 8 different offsets in various wheels combos with various tire sizes and suspension heights and then ultimately pulled the fenders some, all with help by reading on the CL/LS430 forums...

i feel like the dedicated car chassis sections within CL will give you more detailed info like it sounds you are asking for in terms of who, what, when, where, how much, why,, etc etc...  but to me VSC is a gathering of all the different car platforms/chassis where we share one common interest in booze, women, oh yeah and vip cars  ;)

but hey i'm new around these parts so what do i know; maybe i'm the only one who likes booze and women here  ;)

Yeh I have been reading a lot on the ls430 forums on CL. I am getting ready to roll my fenders next week. Prepping myself for some offset plus moar lowz. If my setup is how I want, I will end up pulling the rear fenders and just purchasing wider aftermarket front fenders. the front  fenders are a maybe. Gentlemen jack for me. k thx. lol

gentleman jack,, thats a nice way to put it.  that is how i started on the LSand played it for like 2 years but my last year i went more aggressive, maybe i was just bored.  but now with my crown i don't feel it has the same gentleman jack sort of swagger, more like the young 30 up and comming gentleman jack who can still get away with a younger wilder side  ;)

hopefully i'll have my wheels back on this evening or tomorrow morning...

yeh gentleman jack and coke is my drink of choice lol. Well I just bought my LS in dec. I might actually order coils, wheels, and spacers next week along with my roll to start shit off.

Check outs BAHC's TL for example, ElPresidente Jag, etc. Its the people that join this forum with a non-platform thinking they can lower the car, throw in a Tsuna, and be VIP...then we tell them its not, and they are never heard of again.

the only thing about cl is the standard is very mild. as vip has gotten more popular we've kind of infected it, but if you want the real shit you gotta be on vsc.

Mild is an understatement... Maybe infected isn't the right word, they seem more confused now than before. Those that do make an attempt generally just run the lowest offset 19x10's they can find and roll/pull/camber until it works, and the fenders look like they've been through WWIII.

Sorry I have a long standing distaste for CL, although I do agree if its general maintenance your after, once you sort through all the BS you can gleen some helpful info.

Maintenance stuff on CL? The years I've occasionally looked around most cats seem to look for the best shop to change the oil etc. :smiley-rofl:

haha, yeah i won't say i haven't seen my fair share of these types of questions/threads, cuz i have seen a bunch, but I always found out rather quickly who the top dogs were and just followed most stuff they did.  the offset and fitment stuff always interested me the most and it really didn't take long at all before i figured out who the OG's were on there who made you read and listen when they talked or typed¿

but yeah to get on the following tip, i would have to say that sadly this is all i have really done for my 10 years in the vip game.  i mean i've had a few decent vip rides but all i've done is sift through vip mags as well as follow what some of the big dogs on CL have done and then just copy that but with my own choice of wheel, spoiler, kit, lights, etc...

As a new comer on vsc (technically my old sn asdf0123 got blocked for some odd reason?) ...so I created this one. I've always wander through reading and trying to educate myself as much as possible. There's always a time to input insight and time to get educated.

Knowing from my original build Acura TL....I figured even if I was a larger contributor it wouldn't matter or make big of an impact considering it's not an official platform. I however since sold the TL and picked up 04 LS430 and been actively invested in doing a lot of mods I have always wanted..

Like OG mentioned.. after each car I've owned I always tried to raise the bar..and being it's my 5th car..I learn more and more not to cut corners and to save and invest in what I want. Do it right, and I will enjoy the ride that much longer.... Sorry for the rant I just wanted to chim in since there were a few mention reference to new members..if you count my asdf0123 sn I've been on here a good time..just incognito.

cordon bleu, good choice. Yeah I have seen a few of those "vip" acuras and what not. But one thing I learned, car guys respect other car guys and we will all be happy. Even those fast and furious guys lol. I seen this video lately of this tC with stretched tires, and some dude was recording it in a parking lot calling it his daily dose of rice and started touching on this persons car. I was like forreal? Bad manners much?  As for general maintenance, i do my own. I don't trust wal-mart or anyone doing any scheduled maintenance to my car other than the occassional a/c, and stock tire change. (tbh I hate changing my own tires.)

Tbh I doubt anyone in here does stretch their tires on without a machine on their own... It's just too big of a risk to damage fine wheels when you're doing the stretching  with just tire bar and cleaner =)

I have access to tire machines, its just I hate changing tires, even for a "normal" persons car. i.e. my grandmothers yaris lol.
