Custom Exhaust

Hey guys so I've been looking into making a custom exhaust from different parts rather than buy a whole exhaust system. The only problem I have right now is

[*]Should I delete the resonators
[*]What diameter should I increase the piping to

What car do you have?

I have a 98 GS300

With lexus I usually see 2.5" piping and some guys use magnaflow mufflers
if you want a bit louder than stock then just delete some of the resonators

I used Vibrant resonators as mufflers with all the stock resonators on my GS400. Nice and quiet when idle but gives a deep crisp tone when I hit the gas.

Cat delete and straight 2,5" twin pipes... unless 2JZ boosting it's time to go 5" dp into twin 3,5" straights... YE BOI =)

its a 6cylinder i wouldnt go too crazy (as in full straight piped) or it will sound like booboo.....id have atleast one good quality muffler and whatever style tip(s) you want

Im running the Tanabe Medallion on my 2002 GS300 and it is too quiet in my opinion. Also it might be because I am running the OEM exhaust manifold with a "going bad" cat. But hey! Who knows... lol

Somewhat on topic, when people want to use certain exhaust tips from let's say another car, what mufflers do they use? I see people using different tips, but I don't know how to go about selecting mufflers for other OEM or aftermarket tips. I'd like something different for my car, maybe oval or rectangular tips like many of the present euro ones.

look for one that fits your needs. pick a manufacturer, then from there the main specs are overall length and inlet/outlet sizing. most manufacturers have different series of mufflers, depending on your application i.e. truck, car, suv, whatever, and then different selections... offroad, street, performance, etc.

I'm bringing this thread back up! So I took off the mufflers when I was installing my coilovers just to see how they sounded. They sounded pretty mean! So I'm going muffler delete. However I want a bigger outlet for the exhaust tips *no homo*. So my stock piping is 2.5" is it possible to increase the piping to 3.5" right where the muffler bolt on so I can put on a 3.5" in to a 4.5" out tip? The reason why is because a 3.5" outlet looks a bit small.

Of course you just need to get conical (adapter) tubes from somewhere, or have your shop fab em up.

or just find a 4.5" tip with 2.5" inlet.

Or just have some capable shop fab up the tips you desire with given proportions... but yeah I get it not wanting to use excess money, if I recall my garage mate paid 30/40$ for a 3"->4" cone type adapter tube which was about 2-3" long.
