how flush without tire stretching?

i was wondering how flush do you think i could get my wheels without tire stretching. im willing to roll or cut the fender lips and camber my wheels. the reason ive had a change of heart about stretching is due to the insane amount of pot holes in my city. the other day i blew a 60 series tire from a pothole and my friend blew all four of his 45 series. please don't tell me don't be a pussy and run em. because I KNOW i will ruin the wheels in a matter of days. its not uncommon to see ankle deep potholes or even lower shin deep potholes this year. if you guys have any pictures of how flush you could go with out a stretch id like to see them.

So am i to assume you intend to run 60 series tires as well? Cos, stretched or not, running 35 or 40 series tires is going to be difficult on roads where 60 series wont last...

WTF?  60 series tires is a pretty big sidewall.  Especially 225+ widths.  I would check ur tire pressure to see if it was low or alittle more pressure and sacrifice ride comfort.   What city are you in?

Sounds like you need to invest in a lifted truck instead of a VIP car, if you're dumb enough to destroy a 60 series tire seating.

dumb enough?? thanks for your post asshole! i wont even bring myself to your level man. i live in edmonton alberta canada. where its not uncommon to have -35 degree celcius weather in winter. cold warm cold warm. this destroy's the pavement on the roads leading to potholes. 60 series thats too much. most of the potholes would get patched up by summer. but i do not want to take a chance. im thinking of running a 40 series with a 225 width, 18's. ill be spacing out the wheels for the flush look. just wondering how flush you could get an unstretched tire.

you should be able to get it to sit flush just fine, stretching tires lets you go lower to the ground.

thnx, i thought stretching gives you that extra clearence to really get the wheels sitting flush. if you have any pics brandicus id really appreciate it.

Most likely the tire will make contact with the inner fender well, even if you fold the fender lip completely flat.

But that assumes you are tucking tire. Most people only barely tuck the tire - especially with 18s so that might not be much of a problem

i will be tucking tire, the wheel wells on my car are pretty small and ill be running coilovers so tucking will not be an issue.

so essentially, you think a flush fitment is out of the question?

Lip outside of the fender is out of the question because that requires the tire to slope away from the lip. At the very least you would be doing quite a bit of modifying to the inner fender well to get it looking close.
 
Also, 225 is the regular tire for a 8" wheel. That wont be flush unless you can find it in a zero or lower offset. 9.5" is probably the minimum width you would want, and then still at +15 or so offset. For that width, 265 or 275 would be a "safe fitment". 
 
But i think it would be possible, if you were willing to do more than just rolling fenders (modifying the inner well etc)
