hey whats up VSC fam. i decided to get started on my new build thread, a toyota previa. in order to fund my new build, i sold my lexus ls400 back in january, and surpisingly got a decent amount for it.
here's my previous build: LS400 UCF10 aka LYKABOS
anyways its time to get crackin on a re-build thread for the project i recently acquired. as some of you may know, shawn murphy aka shawnthemonster let me adopt his egg shaped beast and now call it my own.
if you wanna get a feel for what this car came from, here's shawn's original thread when he started this.

originally i was saving up for an infiniti m45 Y34. i found a couple in my area priced for around 7k-9k too. but instagram, blogs, and facebook pics made me consider previas from time to time. i came across this one decent condition previa, all stock and junk, and for the price i was seriously gonna pull the trigger that day to buy it.
one day during class, i get a random call from some cat in the 209 area code. im like ehhh..... ill let my vmail get take it. on my lunch break i listen to the message and it was shawn who calls me! im like ok... howd you get my #...? so i call him back, we make our introductions to each other and such (thanks to VSC for all VIP owners to know one another), then we get down to the nitty gritty. he said that he couldnt make time to continue his previa build and offered me to take on the challenge. he told me all of the specs, ups and downs, the whole nine, and how much he wants to let it go for. im like ok.... lemme think about it, let it marinate in my head for a few. im normally against buying a car thats previously a project. you know that saying: built not bought. so for a while i was talking myself out of making a deal. but his car had most of the parts i was gonna get eventually. my main priority in this build is to make it known as mine.
so in the end we made a deal: ill trade him my honda ruckus plus cash (im not gonna discuss the $$ because i know he gave me a helluva good deal). what made me say yea to the deal is that he has the independent rear suspension (yea i know it doesnt really benefit the van but i like the look of camber when this thing airs down), Air condition works perfect, and the aero kit is simple looking. we made a deal to meet up that weekend in livermore, ca and sign some papers.

i drove home the next day and immediately started to take the van apart. first thing i did was give it a complete look-over..... get familiar with all the insides and electrical, things id keep or replace, and so forth. and you gotta include a car wash after a 6 hour drive!
i drove it home on steelie wheels of course, i bolted up the AG wheels after i washed the car down.
here's everything put back together. dont hate on my xmas lights still up. filipinos dont take em down til july lol.
its getting late, so ill ramble on another day

may be cheaper to buy the kit and mod it. i agree that the evolution kit is not very good looking. if you have an overseas connection keep your eyes on yaj. i've seen them go pretty cheap in the past.

cut the top of the celtima bumper off and mold it to the bottom half of the bumper you have. should be a simple task since they're both made for the same chassis.

i stopped by auto explosion in gardena, ca a few days after picking up the van. if u guys are ever in the south bay area, check em out. they always have crazy builds goin on in their shop. i spoke to my buddies, aka father and son duo esteban and damian about some paint job options for my pedo van. this time around i had no clue what to paint it. with my ls400, i walked right in and gave them my paint code and took off. done deal. but this time, being all clueless, i went thru a phaze of choosing from different palettes of gray, purple, teal, white, even bronze again. my choice of colors didnt come from OEM colors you see on the road anymore, but was more inspired by colors you see on show cars from tokyo auto salon and such. wild, so to speak. im already expecting a love-it-or-hate-it kind or response when i show what i chose. so i chose my color, locked in a date for the work and i took off.
next day, i stopped by the local audio shop in long beach for a new head unit. funny, i never heard of this audio shop, but yelp gave them 5 stars so i rolled by. anyways idk about you guys when you buy things on craigslist, but i bought a head unit from some dood on there and he said "yea its a complete unit, plug and play no problem." ok fine i pay the man and brought that unit to these guys. they open up the box and tell me im missing the main harness. im like wtf?! i call homeboy up and cuss him out on his vmail (douchebag maybe knew i was gonna call him back, pulled a fast one on me). he had the nerve to call me back and say "bro i told u its gonna need that wire or else its not gonna power up." motherfuckier if u told me that, why would i still buy it from u?!
whatever im over it. so i ended up buying a whole new single din flip out monitor from these guys. also had the tint removed.
few days later i came up on a set of decent condition SSR vienna kreiss. here's the test fit. not bad!

Looking good..
But becareful with the house of koror clear that stuff is soft. I had that on the xb and I won't use it again. It tends to bruise easy also.

i wanted a different set of rims so i put the AG's aside for now and test fitted a set of SSR Vienna Kreiss. looks pretty cool. i might rock em for a bit.

Ohhhhh snap! those wheels were from some dude in daygo! if you ever run into him tell him i need him to call me or send me a message i have these spanner wrenches and perchs for the megans he bought from me and i would like to ship them. He gave me his contact when i had my old phone which was ruined in vegas due to drunk fun. I know those were his cause he had soem crazy ass offsets same model.. lol
