Y33 maintenance items.
So I am getting my Y33 back on the road. Doing knock sensors, valve cover gaskets and plugs while I am in there. I looked up the time for the timing chains and it states 19.7 hours and says I have to R&R the motor and transmission. Has anyone done it with out pulling the motor? I want to do the oil pan gasket and I have to drop the subframe which is whatever, might as well do a rack while I am doing that. But I really want to spend as little time as possible. Let me know if you have any tips.

Does the chain need to be done? From what I can see of where the timing cover is I think you're pulling the motor which way you look at it....
I personally wound not do the TC until it was needed.

Can I add water pump too. Anyone here done one on a y33?

i dont see why you'd need to drop the motor/trans for t-chains. they are maintenance-free unless you are hearing some noises from the guides or something.

^ that's what I'm saying, if it's not giving you an issue then don't bother. That's the mount of using a timing chain over a belt.

When I had the top end apart, and doing the valve covers, plugs and gaskets, I checked the chain and the top guides and they looked very good. So I will be leaving that alone. Trying to get someone to press in new ball joints for me as it sounds like someone is constantly hitting my front suspension with a hammer when going over the smallest bumps. I just replaced all the coil packs which I got for $225 two day aired. no more stumbling issue and it runs good now. Also going to do fuel filter.
Only thing that sucks is I have a MAP/BARO switch solenoid code now. Wiring issue. I really don't want to tear the intake plenum off again.
