Painted my wheel lips black, what do you guys think?

I saw this pic of a black GS in japan with black lips and silver face, i kind of liked it and thought i would try it, after doing it i initially thought it was cool, but now im on the fence about it. What do you guys think? I also think it might look better when i get air, but i dont know.

I think its personal preference...sometimes it also depends on the face wheel  design and of course color of the vehicle....:biggthumpup:

sorry bro... maybe if the faces weren't convex... cool idea tho!

i dont like it i think it would suit a car with alot more dish then those rims imo

flat black face would make it look good imo

yeah it looks a bit odd, but i like it bc it's odd. very different from the norm. maybe the chrome b-pillar is distracting others from liking it.

I like it.  diff faces would prob look better but I can dig it

I like the idea but different faces would pull it together better but that's just me though

I been thinking of that. They make mirror black pillars that are kind of like black chrome but darker. Was thinking of doing that. I do kind of like the stickers though, I feel it brakes up the black

Tbh I don't know if I like it or not.lol. Most people who know me know I don't ask for others opinions. I do what I like. But in this case I just don't know how I feel about it. But the opinions are giving me ideas.

id like the look with a bigger lip. i do get what you're doing with the sticker though and it works like that.

What about black faces and a contrasting color to the body of the car for the lips?  Only problem is, it doesn't appear as though there is any other color scheme other than black and shiny.

To be fair that is my theme. Black and Shiney. I am not a big fan of the newer vip styles with multiple color schemes and stuff. I like it plain and simple with matching colors. I see what you are saying though

I think it looks great personally the only thing I'd change are the pillars and stickers. But as far as the lips go I think it looks dope

Thanks man, i have a curious question though, what is it about the pillars that makes everyone go, ewww. Just curious as to why people dont like them.

In my humble opinion they are to much of a focal point , The pillars look out of place as your car is really based around a singular color pallet. I truly feel and it's your car, that it would look a million times better without them.

Well IMO the black lipped cars are all done up like GT cars and not really VIP. More towards the sporty end with huge BBK, FMIC etc. But it looks ok, just doesnt do the face justice, makes them look even more convex.

Not a fan, never have been, of black lips with a lighter face, but I've seen Profounds in all black and that was pretty spectacular on a black car.

I want to, but im afraid that it might dim the wheels more from the reflection, that is the only thing that is stopping me. As for the stickers, i had to have them made at a sticker shop, the guy actually had to take the font and custom make the "F" logo in the middle, was kind of cool how he did it, he has the file saved though, i think i paid  like $25 for four, if you want some i can get them made for ya.

IMO, the pillars pop too much for what should just be trim, draws too much attention. Just changing those to black seems a little better, but I think matte/satin blacking the wheel faces will make a huge difference. I'm not much of a fan of all black wheels, but having that texture difference between the faces and lips adds enough contrast to not look so monotone.

That looks pretty good. Try doing one with gloss black wheels!

Heh, after the photoshop, i think you solidified my previous opinion, I am going to leave it the way it is. Painting the faces black and changing the chrome pillars, makes it look dull and shitty. Nothing stands out, its just a black blob, and looks like a cheap POS. Thanks! exactly what i was looking for

Not bad.. but if u really wanna go that direction then Just get them wrapped in 3M ! I think it'll save u some bucks

I'd plasti dip the centers black to see if you like it, then actually paint them if you dig it. I think it would look way better with satin black centers regarless.
