98gs300 needs your help!!!!!

so i need your help one day i turned on my car i got a check engine light. i went to a local shop i normally take it to(payless auto) and he scanned my ecu and he said that it could just be your gas cap so i went to buy a new one and went to a buddys house to clear the code. when i was on the way to my parents house on the freeway. The car started jerking and when i push on the gas it wouldnt move. then i pushed it again it responded. 10 seconds later it did it again and this time it got worse i was loosing mph and it wasnt responded and it just kept jerking. i pulled over and got the car towed to the shop on a sunday and came back to see what was the problem on monday..the mechanic wasnt sure what was happening. He said it could either be your maf sensor..Throttle body or fuel pump....i really dont want to spend money on guesses!!!..i turned on the car when it was at the shop and it cranked up fine.. but after a couple secs it started idling rough and would just shut off in a matter of seconds...."the day i cleared the code at my buddies house it gave me p0446 evap malfunction but i've checked many sites and people have ran with this CEL light with no probs and some people got it from a broken gas cap" PLEASE HELP...

No, if the pump is going out, itll do that, I had many pumps do that, car would sputter then stop all together, sat for an hour or so then would start right back up for a bit and do it again. It was the fuel pump.

Cheapest and easiest things to do is clean your Maf sensor and throttle body. Did you happen to go to a shitty gas station lately? I would get one of those gas treatments that removes water/moisture out of the gas too. Good luck.

+1 on fuel pump, if you can replicate the problem, you MAY or MAY NOT be able to hear the fuel pump priming when you flip the key. On my cousin's car I had to kick the backseat real hard and the fuel pump will work again.... Funny ordeal but it was replaced soon after.
