Stretch look or Non-stretched look...

Is it an absolute must to have your tires to have that stretched look or can you just have it simple where its a low profile tire but lining up with the rim edge? This question is pertaining to having a VIP or EXE style or look. Is it possible just to have thin low-pro tires not stretched but still considered VIP or EXE?

I think that it inhances the look, but thats me and it depends on the wheel style. With the newer style wheels with full faced designs streched tires take away from the appearance and low pro tire add to the appearance..

 I think when you look at an overall picture perfect vip car everything you see comes to together as one. 

IF you have a true VIP car and you slam it with nice flush wheels tires do not matter in making it a VIP car or not. 

Most of the time the reason why most folks choose to strech the tires is so they can go wider and lower..

You only can go so low without streching tires then its a must. To get that picture perfect VIP style..

You can't acheive the tsurachi look without some strech. This flush look to many is one of the main identifying styling attributes of a VIP or EXE styled car.

Depends on the tire company.. When i ran michelin pilots, the tires looked very bulky. Now that I am running dunlop dz101, they look stretched and the sidewall is a special design. Also falken tires look stretched too.

If you arent tucking tire then it doesnt matter if you have stretched tires or fatty bubble tires... but then if you arent tucking tire then it means you arent really low, so you miss out on the most important aspect of vip styling.

I think these days "EXE styling" is used as a catch-all for any cars that use Japanese rims, but arent low enough, or wide enough to pull off the "VIP Style" look. Not that there's anything wrong with it - I know i wouldnt be so keen on rolling/pulling my fenders and scraping the undercarriage on my brand new LS460 either.

So in that case stretched tires, big lips, low offsets etc arent mandatory...

Thanks for the grea info. I guess EXE is what I'm leaning more towards, but I mean what if my tires can tuck without having tha stretched look is that considered VIP, does that mean I must go with a wider tire wheel or a more agressive offset?

It means that you either:
a) need spacers
b) need a wheel with a lower offset and/or increased width

I would really urge you to do the necesary work to get as flush as possible (without creating much poke... you will really be amazed the difference in appearance)

Yes, there is no point doing stretched tires if you dont need to do it. But I've never heard of anyone who has regretted achieving a 'flush' look. Its something that is hard to capture on a camera, but makes people just stare...

There is a few cars in japan doing the 'tucked' look, but if you look closely, they are actually tucking very low offset wheels. i.e. they have wheels that would be flush at fender height, but when they slamm it an extra 2" and add more camber it looks tucked. In that case they still need stretched tires!

Yeah I wanna run something that will be flush enough, yet wide. I prefer the flush look, but like the stretched too.

Go with a mild stretch then.

Well I guess its kinda hard to fit wild offset wheels on a FF car like a 2007Accord which I plan to get by the end of this year hopefully. Mild Strech would be nice. I know an Accord is bleh but I dunno I have this thing for Accords ever since I had my 90 & 91. My freind is trying to get me to buy an Accord Wagon. Probably gotta see that shop down here called Re-Visions or call that dude I messaged, Brian I think is his name, well I'm located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

All that means is that you dont need to have low offset wheels to get the flush look. Where you might need 0 offset 10" wide rims on a Y33, you can get the same look with some common sizes like 9" +35 offset. Sure, the Y33 can have more lip, but lip isnt everything!

19"x8.5" front 19"x9" rear? Dunno if this would work, or is this too wide or not wide enough?

that was just an example, i am not really sure what it can fit... but with some measuring and talking to other people with that model car you should be able to come up with some sizes that fit and look good... Just dont take the typical accord owner's advice about wheel fitments, because they will only want to play it safe
