'VIP' puddle lights question
I did a search on puddle lights but i cant find exactly what im looking for.
i have 04 tsx (not a true vip platform i know), and if anyone has knowledge as to how i should wire them. i have the basic idea, but i want to be able to have the lights on when the car is off (is there kits with switches? idk) and the door closed, so that ill be able to have the lights on for the whole duration of the show. what should i be wiring the lights to? dome light / side door foot light? im not quite which one is the exact power source i am looking to connect to.
thanks in advancee
edit: ahh seem slike this is in the wrong section and should be under electronics. if a mod could please move it to there thanks :)

I've helped my friend wire them. We wired them to the dome light so when you switch it to "On" constantly it should stay on. That's from what I remember I don't know if we did anything different.

Wiring these is easy, not sure how ppl have some trouble lol. For the "power" I would splice into something that can get power with the key out of car. Then just run a on/off switch for the lights them self. Or you could even run it off the battery....not exactly safe throu. If you do I'd use a on/off to a relay in cabin.

so you have to drive with dome light on? I would wire them to the on/off switch most of them come with and just mount it under the dash or something.

If you can get an On/Off/On switch, you can wire one On to battery (+) and the other On to the dome light (+), that way you can choose constant on, constant off, and courtesy on through the switch, pretty much like the dome lights.

Dear I think that you should go through eBay, there I have seen these puddle lights. But don't know whether that will satisfy you or not. As per the connection is concerned, I think that this circuit may help you.

So nobody has had any police trouble with driving with these on? My car is a daily so don't think I would do the parking lights if I would be hassled about it.

on the tsx, when you hit the unlock button does the dome light come on? if so you could tap into that. I know my g35 did and that would be perfect for this application. it also stays on for a while after you turn off the car. just thought I would mention this.

A lot of good responses & you have many options you can go wit...for myself, I would probably run a switch in the cabin.

Like I said earlier, if you use a SPDT (on-off-on) switch like the one below, you can have the option for constant on (straight from battery) or courtesy on (on with dome light) in a single switch. You wire the center pin to the puddle light power, one of the outer pins goes to battery (with a fuse), and the other outer pin goes to dome light power. That way you don't have to change anything down the line if you want them on for show or on with the dome lights, and the switch will function exactly like your dome light switch.
