Wheel spacer?

Hi,

I was wondering if it would be safe to put 10mm spacers? I drive a 93 previa and I want to push out the wheels im using by roughly 10mm, so thats why I was wondering if its safe to put it on the vehicle and put he wheels and then use the lugs?

I mean, does it not shorten the number of threads the lugs will grip due to the wheel spacer?

Any inputs would be greatly appriciated.

the number of thread that will grab will be minimal. id either install some extended studs so that when you do use a 10mm spacer, the lug nuts still have a lot of threads to grab. or use a bolt on spacer... but im not sure if they make a 10mm bolt on spacer, it may be too thin.

this guy is selling this on clublexus.com apparently they do make 10mm bolt on spacers...

so is it a "per wheel" weather those type of spacers will even fit?   due to the studs sticking out and all...

I've been looking into wheel spacers for about a couple month now and im thinking of going h&r trax spacers. 
unlike the cheaper wheel spacers, they have a hub centric ring so your are balanced. they also come with longer studs
Still havent comitted to it, but it is another option

The spacers stated above are good choices.  Definately don't attempt to run your wheels with original studs.  You will definately not get enough threads.....would not want you to be at a stop only to see one of your wheels keep on rolling by you.

how about 5mm spacers? can I use my regular oem studs or do I still need to get those extended ones?

I'm from Malaysia and my tireshop guy told me the max is to go 8mm (my previous setup) and that' the max u should go on a Sentra N16. Depending on types makes and models of various car manufacturer, some comes with longer studs than the others. On wheel balancing is a must for those spacers as it doesn't comes with center cones, otherwise the wheel will vibrate heavily.

I'm currently using 20mm adapters with studs embedded. I got my flush mount and peace of mind :lol:

If I use that bolt on 10mm spacer, how come the OEM studs are still sticking out? So, how does one install wheels on?

And what are the average pricing on those 10mm bolt on spacers and also the 5mm spacers?

there are special flat nuts that go on those types of spacers.
but still then, even most wheels wont use a 10mm like that, a 15 is normally fine, but a 10 the studs will stick through too much

Depending on wheels design, some wheels do have some hollow space at the rear of the wheel, so a slightly protuding wheel stud should fit ok (I'm doing that).

Yeah, thats what I thought...but are there ones that will make it flush? or do you just get that shallow nut that Yokotas13 was talking about?

Either change to shorter studs altogether or grind off the excess once u mounted your spacers...

I ran 20 mm spacers on my benz with stock studs and the lugs had plenty of travel. it really depends on your car and the wheels. If u look at a stock previa studs you'll  notice they're  very short from factory so itd be safe to get extended studs. check out the vw forums. they pop up for sale there all the time.

they make flush nuts for 10 and 15mm spacers
they ahve a weird double dimple key that does with it

ALl wheels have some kind of space for a lug to go up, but not enough for a lug and NUt.

u dont need to

there isnt a car that i can think of with long enough studs to need to grind them down or get shorter ones.

So what are good brands of spacers out there that you guys have used? Ive looked on Ebay and have seen maybe 3 different brands. I am set on bolt on ones but is H&R the only company has has hub centric ones?

Buy some spacers, put em on, enjoy

Not all wheels have pockets to clear studs.    

Weds Cerberus II do NOT have any pockets so if the studs protrude, you cut down the studs or machine pockets in the back.

I have have 11mm custom bolt on spacers and had to cut down my stock studs.

if they dont have the holes, buy wheels that fit?
better yet, why didnt you jhust get extended lugs and a 5 and 2 3 mm spacers?

seems like a waste of money to have somethign ucstom made
