What Color Paint for my q45 y33?

Purple. I'm not joking. A nice pearlescent dark purple.

i might just go with mercedes black because my stock color right now is dark espresso brown pearl and the change color work wouldnt be that bad like compared to changing it to white (under hood):eek:

All kidding aside..I agree with Spiderman.  Black is where it's at.

Give me a break Mike(elpresidente), that was a great one. Choose a color you want. Just don't make it iridescent pink or something like that. If I had to choose, black it is.

There is way to many white cars I agree but if you like it do something different with it atleast.:thumbsup:

kinda depends on what kit you go with.  some kits look better on light colored cars and some look better on darker colored cars.

Black and white have been done to death on these cars.

If you're looking for something VIP-ish, then I'd look at darker colors like the aforementioned dark purple, or a dark blue or dark green (like the Junction Produce cars); I'm talking about colors so dark that they will appear black in the shade or at night. There is also a new PPG color called "Rattlesnake" which is a very very dark brown that glimmers in the sunshine; I would love to do this on a car!

I know a lot of you guys are very conservative when it comes to stuff like color... I can't imagine going to all the trouble of painting a car and doing it a stock color, but that's just me. I'm sort of bold like that.

BTW, for the roof of my car, we went Nighthawk Black with Blue pearl... looks unbelievable in the sun, the blue flakes look intense. It's nearly impossible to capture in a photograph, however...

I wanted to add dark blue to the list. Here's what I would do:

Root beer would be neat...a modern Q45 version of RASX7's car

it's the easiest to repaint too, since your car is already brown..

yea man that rattlesnake sample i had was pretty sick. i might just get my car reshot the same color for now and change color wen i get a body kit.

So, where did you end-up, color-wise?

The Espresso is okay but isn't very saturated looking. I like colors with lots of depth and saturation.

If you swing back towards black, I was going to suggest Honda Nighthawk Black, from the late model Odyssey vans. It appears black in the shade, but in the sunlight you can see that is a VERY dark blue metallic. I used this on the roof of my GS, with additional blue pearl flakes added. Pictures don't do it justice!

A very dark green or red like some of the JP cars.

Black, very luxurious.

I can vouch for the Nighthawk black, saw an Accord get done with it, it's a nice colour.

i know its probably late... but i like MB obsidian black ... and for kicks, add gold flakes!

ok so i kinda narrowed it down to a couple choices. 

my homie has a chrysler 300c and i really dig the metallic black because up close it looks as if theres silver flakes on it, so im guessing the swirlmarks wouldnt be much of a problem with the metallic compared to a regular black.

another color is the honda nighthawk black pearl you guys brought up. i actually stopped by a local honda dealer and peeped it on a honda pilot. really didnt believe it was a daark dark blue until my face was right on it. i could see the blue flakes when it hits the sun and at different angles you can see it. looks really elegant and clean, has that luxury look.

lexus black cherry, i was crusing around SD and saw a gs300 with the stock black cherry and that shit looked HOT! im guessing its the same color from the scion tc. im diggin the color but then my last project i threw on PPG's Candy Cherry Red w/ a black base coat. kinda wanna go with another color but maybe this lexus cherry might do it for me.

last one is the soprano purple, looks really good but i wonder how it really looks in person. from the second pic i can see it where it hits the light and it looked a bit too bright for me. if i did go with a purple, it would be a really dark one. im going for that clean luxury look, not the low low kinda look where we got a bright color getting everyones attention. i mean when i think of VIP, i picture black or dark colored cars. 

what do you guys think?

But I say go with a perl white or black! Any color you have said can work though!

id say white for some reason... but make your own color white. i sprayed my friends 350z championship white (integra type R white) with escalade white pearl. came out real nice, but different. but usually when people ask me what color to go with, i tell them something other than stock, i mean a color that your car doesnt come in, to make it that much more different from the other ones... like that new IS green, or the IS red... mean....

I would do a dark color so its easier to do the color change.

ok it's official, ima go for the "brilliant black crystal pearl" from the chrysler 300c's. i dont know but for some reason that black sticks out more than most of the other stock blacks on other makes. and the crystal pearl covers up some swirl marks, so maintenance shouldn't be much. it's gonna be sprayed in the booth after i get the air suspension in 2 weeks, i'll keeps you guys updated and post some before and after pictures.

so its official like a referee wit a whistle!!............ "brilliant black crystal pearl"  ???? why not baluga black (bently black).... it looks extreeeeeeeme

you should use the "blurple" color from the 2nd gen DSMs.  but its probably too late.  haha

if you're gonna choose black, check out the Range Rover black...it's a high solid black with violet pearl...but anytime you add pearl to a solid black color, it gets a little milky and takes a little 'depth' away....what color is your car right now...it's like 3 times more work to paint the jambs, underhood, under trunk, etc.
 
and if you ARE going to add pearl, don't go crazy with it...only add about 5 grams per quart.

Did you ever get it painted?  Black is nice but you have a color that no one else has.  Its nice to have people make a referance to the car just by the color and have everyone know which car they are talking about.  "That brown car"

sorry to bump this from the dead but just wanted to update on the paint color I decided to go with, I'm still sticking with the Dark Brown Idea but different from the stock color I have...

yup.. i was reading his feature and i believe he mentions it's a PPG bronze metallic with pearl. The bronze is really nice and gives it a unique look compared to the other stock colors

i do very much like that BMW colour, but now it seems browns and shades thereof are becoming a bit of a trend too! ALthough i do think it will look nice on your car.
 
but at the end of the day a fresh coat of whatever colour will really transform the car anyway.

I don't know about trend, I just want a different shade of brown other than my stock espresso and plus it would save me some money not painting the door jams and less R&I procedures

Daygo - good point on the jams etc. i would say go for it too because it is just a more rich sortof shade than what you have so you cant go wrong.
 
i guess trend is a bit of an exaggeration, but i never realyl could think of any nice brown cars maybe a year or so ago but now i think of a few AE86s that i saw when i was looking for colours for my s13, and then i saw the guys 180sx in root beer on Zilvia before i sold the silvia, and finally coming on here i think of Mr Exec's car and RacinStylez car. So brown seems to be pretty popular, but of course that isnt a bad thing!
